Just broke the Whites Royal GT head phone:angry:

wrong way ron

New member
What do you guys suggest for the replacement? Are the more expensive set any better or should I replace the Royal GT's Whats the difference?

I broke my set about a month back, and I went to the one source that didn't steer me wrong on my new 6" EXcelerator EQ2 Pro DD coil - Larry. Before you knew it I had a brand new set of SunRay Pro Headphones seating at the front door, the same day he rcv'd his check. It makes me wonder what was mailed first!! And like the DD he was right on. I can't get the DD off the MD, and the same goes for the SunRay's on my head. The limiter is something else.......

Good luck, there's a number of headsets to choose from, and by the way did I mention the outstanding warranty the the SunRay's come with! Don't mind spending the extra dollars knowing I have that in my back pocket.

Thanks for the kind words Cliff.

I've got several sets of Gray Ghost and a set of the Whites and have had several others over the years. I can definitely say the Gray Ghosts sound sharper and cleaner on solid hits, let alone on whispers and faint signals, and shield the outside noise better. The Whites aren't bad, but there definitely is a difference in favor of the Ghosts.

If my SunRay headphones would happen to bite the dust, I would have to get another set. They are the most comfortable phones and they have the leather ear pads.......Wow, very nice. They've got the limiter switch and also the volume control on each ear. I had a pair of Gray Ghost phones and these don't even compare. But then it's just my humble opinion. Wish you all the luck in detecting, Nancy

You would think Whites would make a top of the line set of headphones to compliment their better detectors. Using any of their current headphones is like putting VW tires on a Porche! They are absolutly the cheapest designed and made headphones on the market. With that being said...by all means, find you a good set. Black Widow, SunRay, Killer Bee's, GrayGhost, Rats...I use the Rats myself. They make all the difference in the world, both in their performance and comfort. You can let your kids have the toys that White sell. Just my 2 cents worth.

Did or didn't I speak to soon!! Wouldn't you know it the Limiter switch on my 1+ year old SunRay Pro Headphones broke a week or two back, and Larry steered me in the right direction to get them fixed. Didn't cost me a thing except the postage. Now I have the SunRay's back (good as new), and am a happy camper!! Though I did buy a cheap set while the SunRay's were getting fixed, but only used them once, and swore I never would use them again!! Now I have the SunRays back, and found over 11 dollars in Clad the first time back out...

It's good to be swinging and listening once again with the SunRays and the MXT!!

I've had Koss KW pros that came with my XLT wayyyyy back when. very comfortable. I still have them, but Koss said they stopped making them and they no longer have parts for them, so when they wear out this time I'm lost. In the years gone by I must have sent them back 3 or 4 times and they always fixed or replaced them.free  Now they stopped making them so I went with Killer Bee's and have 2 sets for my machines. I think you can't go wrong with any of the higher end headphones. It's a personal preferences. JMO

Gotta agree with Nancy on the grey ghosts, though good sounding, the vinyl makes for some pretty wet ears even in mild weather.

The whites purples are throw aways, might get a season or two out of them.
