Just bought the racer 2

Man for the money this is probably the best thing going out there at the moment. I like it and it is different from the original red racer I used to have. I went ahead and got one because I feel Nokta will discontinue it when the simplex hits the scene. I do not know why I have that feeling but it seems everything is going to the water proofing area now. I may be wrong but who knows.

Now do not get me wrong but I love my anfibio. It is different though. Even the tones seem different between the two units. I have not done any air testing with it yet but I do like how nice and sturdy the racer 2 is. I also the the format of being able to go up and down through the settings all with the 4 push buttons too. Also it has all of the settings I would use as well. The anfibio has many more settings to tweak but to me you get a lot for your money with the racer 2.

I took it out to the woods where a small civil war camp was. I found a small patch of leather that was part of a boot or something as it has some remains of 3 buttons on it. I do not think it dates to the civil war itself because the metal looks more modern and not brass like what would have been used in the civil war. Anyways it was pretty neat to find it. I have not found anything out there in a long time and this old piece of leather was about 50 feet away from the little camp that was used by the Union.

I bought it because of the coil size is good for old houses and all which I normally hunt.

I have also ordered one of the new 13" DD coils made by MGC labs out of Russia. I cannot wait to get that in and put it on and see what happens. I ordered that for the open pastures that I hunt sometimes.

Anyways, I know several of you already have a racer or racer 2 and you guys seem to like them. I am happy so far with mine.

Congrats on your Racer 2. I really enjoyed mine.

Congrats on getting the Racer 2 and I agree with what you said about the price. Can't think of any other machine that can offer as much in the way of features and give great performance for $400. LOL and I still like the concept of when the battery gets low ya just pop in 4 new Double A's. A good example is the upcoming WTHO outing in NV. You get out there early, detect all day and then finally get back to your Motel room that evening. When I am done for the day I put my machines away in the truck and then the next morning get one out and start detecting.

Now that I have the MMK arriving today I will have to remember on the outing to unpack it every night once we get back to the room and charge it up. But if I forget, no big deal in can just stay in the truck with its dead little battery as I'll also have an R2, Fors Core & Relic along. Oh ya and I also have to remember to give the headphones a little juice each night as well. I guess I should apologize to my friend that has the XP, he would drag his machine in every night, string out 4 wires to charge the coil, display, headphones and pinpointer lol. It seems I am also headed down that path of "progress" myself with the MMK.

The good ol' Racer 2 is a perfect example of Simplicity combined with Performance, a hard combination to beat.

Hey Gregg, I here you on the recharge thing. however, I think the machine will outlast you on an outing before the battery goes dead. I have noticed on my anfibio that it takes about 4 hours of detecting before the first bar goes down on the battery indicator.

I have about 12 hours in on the anfibio so far and I have only topped it off twice. So it seems to last a good while.

I really did not know about the Kruzer until I got my anfibio. I see your getting the multi version. When I looked into the kruzer machine, I saw it was about 30 dollars or so less than the anfibio 14 I wound up with.

I must admit though that the anfibio has some weight to it but the angle of the grip is good and it balances good. So with that being said, I think the Kruzer will feel al lot more like the Racer in your hands and will probably weigh less than the anfibio.

You know you mentioned to me in a message about the angle of the grip on the racer 2 was better than the original red racer. You are correct. I also like the foam grip it has as well. I may leave it alone for the time being.

I have my covers for the racer coming in tomorrow and after I get them on I will probably take it out for a spin this weekend.

The Racer 2 is a great machine. Recently I had to send my Kruzer in for repair so I had to use my Racer 2 for a backup. I'm glad I did. The Racer in 2 tone mode is deeper than the Kruzer's 3 tone mode but less annoying as the Kruzer's 4 tone mode and probably has the same depth. I love how the pinpointer and GB switch is right there on your index finger. I need to pick it back up from time to time to see what I'm missing.

The auxiliary battery pack is the way to go on the Multi Kruzer/Anfibio series. I wouldn't be without it.

I've used the red racer and loved it ,swinging a deus now but i'll be on the lookout for a racer2 . I'm missing that 5" coil

Yep I have to agree, the R2 is a great detector! Ton's of coil options, optional wireless headphones, deep seeking and it just plain brings home the goods. I still have my R2, along with the MMK, they're great machines

Oh and the R2 has a PP/GB trigger switch that they dropped starting with the MMK and Anfibio
