Hey guys,

I just bought a used at pro international. I took it to the beach today but stayed in the dry sand.

almost every sweep i did i was getting a lot of chatter from iron sounds to bell tones.

it was really frustrating as my desire to dig anything want away because it all sounded the same.

I made sure to do a auto ground balance and played with the sensitivity etc. I am hoping that its just me and not the machine.

When using it in my backyard away from any salt environment it is better but i still get alot of stuff that sounds like junk mixed with bell tones. when something very clear rings through i dig it and generally find a penny etc.

Im in canada and our dimes register anywhere from 03-60, and the signal is not very good at all, i thought dimes should be more clear? quarters and loonies are much better.

overall im a bit disappointed ....does it just take some getting used to? what could I be doing wrong.

Not sure what the difference is modes wise of the International and regular Pro, but what were your settings? Did you try the pro zero mode? HH jim tn

Check the obvious first like good coil connections...screw it all the way in. Next...if you have a coil cover...make sure it doesn't have any sand trapped between the cover and the coil. If you have a different coil try swapping it out to see if that helps also. Hope this helps you.

Use Pro Mode.....it runs a bit more stable. Keep your sensitivity at a reasonable setting to run it quiet. Keep your iron audio shut off for the time being and set your to iron discrimination to 35. That should get you a nice quiet, stable machine to practice with. Use the iron audio feature later on after you put some time on the detector. Don't forget to watch some Garrett videos. There is a link near the top of the page.

Just wanted to update for anyone feeling like i did. It was me, not the detector. had sensitivity too high for salt beach. learn the machine!
