Just another PI build, different configuration.

I really liked the under the arm cuff mounting of the two last builds.
Have two more of the same enclosures but, a really tight, time consuming build.

Woke up Thursday morning and had an idea that I ran with.
Had one more PCB enclosure and battery enclosure that I used to make my first builds.
The idea was a rear mounted enclosure with the battery box stacked on top of the PCB box.
It's a different look that makes a compact set-up.

Did all my drilling Thursday and JB Welded the battery box to the control box.
Battery charging jack was originally going to be on the back of the battery box plate.
My mind must have wandered and got turned around when epoxying the battery box onto the control box.
Oh, well, stick works out.

Mounted the pinpoint switch on the front plate, its easy to manipulate there if you need it.
Because of where the headphone jack is, best position, could not mount the 5th control pot on top.
It was placed on the back plate with the on/off switch & LED. Overall control configuration works out nicely.

Assembled it Sat evening with a working PCB that was already built. Just need to calibrate it.

More or less a quick build as I no longer had a land unit for myself with a 7" coil to hunt the schools and parks with.
Perfect unit to test out my new 5" search coil I just completed.

Always Nice work Sven, looks better then most factor units!!

Looks great Sven,

If I'm ever in the hunt for another pi will surely look at one of yours if they are ever available, You do excellent work that is a Pi I would take good care of.

Good job

Sven,

Sure looks great.

What is the depth compaired to Minelab ? or Whites TDI ? or the Tesoro Sand Shark ?

You just build them for yourself or to sell ?

Yes Sven, I would enjoy reading about the performance of your units.

Looks great Sven!...I can't wait to see the waterproof version!

Manufacturers better start paying attention because your units are looking better by the day and you're actually builing machines people want.

Thanks, already built several water versions, only problem, we moved inland where there's no water to hunt. Miss the 5 minute walk to the beach.
My PI works for me, a killer with the 5" coil. I felt confident in its abilities, that I sold all my VLF's. With the 5 and 7" coils detects much deeper than I normally would want to dig.
Many holes in schoolyards gave up digging at 8". Have one shipping out to Australia at the end of the month, curious to see how it will work over there. Anyways finds gold here.

Not making any crazy performance claims but can tell you after 40 years of detecting looking for my perfect detector, this is the machine for me. Maybe a PI is not for others who use a VLF with lots of descrimination who don't want to spent time digging trash to get to the gold.

Several I have built for others haven't heard back from yet. Mainly because the weather is too hot and ground is to dry to hunt until October sometime. Would be interesting to see what they will find.............

Have to admit i am seriously looking at getting a smaller coil for my Crossbow Pulse, the smallest one that i currently have is the 8inch Mono from the Garrett SeaHunter,i do have larger Mono coil that i use on the Pulse but for normal every day use i am finding the smaller coils do everything that i want and it still goes deeper than some VLF machine's with a stock coil.

Its not all about sheer depth when using a Pulse,i will put my hand up when i 1st got mine last christmas and i was going down the route of just depth, yes i do have hoard that i got the Pulse for so that i can hope locate the actual container. But have since found that i can use a P.I machine on one inland site that you just cannot use most VLF detectors due to the ground being so highly mineralized, this site is just like a beach but 70miles inland, but the Pulse cuts through it with ease.

Have to admit Sven, you do produce some very high quality machine's and the fine detail really does set them apart from other's machine.

Great work! Have you ever thought of starting your own company?

Thanks,

TC-NM

Used to have several business going, not worth the headache, paperwork, permits, rent, etc.
So I do it as a hobby. Keep quality under tighter control.
Not a big market for PI's that are not mass produced by major manufacturers.
So I will build small number of them each year for a few people who want try something different.
:bouncy:

Kept my PI finds separated from VLF finds.
Got a tumbler and decided to tumble clean the clad. left the lowly pennies for some other time.
Canadian nickels, dimes, quarters nad several$1 & $2 coins. Usually cleaned and spent the $1 & $2 coins
after a days hunt. After the cleaning found my first silver dime 1964 in the dime pile.

I really like the design of your PI's. Small and simple.

One day I hope to try and put one together.
