Just a thought on battery power........

Elton

New member
I bought AA recharger batteries for my etrac. A cheap charger and spent way less than the Etrac recharger system. I bought 1850 rated batteries.

They work very well, and in fact last longer than the Etrac battery.... Something you might want to think about. Saves money over buying backup standard AA Batteries..

My Etrac battery never did hold a long charge....... so I always ended up on long hunts going to standard AA's.... My Charger recharges the batteries in less than 20 minutes 4 at a time..

I'm sure most know this already, but thought I would pass it along to those who never tried recharger Batteries in your machine.

I can usually get at least 8 hours of hunting out of my standard etrac rechargeable. I don't think I've ever actually ran it low. I suppose if this battery ever goes bad, I'll just purchase a new one, I aint got time to be recharging a bunch of AAs..

n/t

My e-trac battery will last at least 8 hrs and I only hunt
No more than 3 hrs at a time so I get in 3 hunts before
I recharge but I do carry my minelab AA battery pack with
rechargables in it just in case I need it. HH

Kind of off the subject, but is it best to remove the rechargeable Minelab battery from the Etrac for the winter? Does it matter if it still has a charge?

When you're done messing around Do yourself and your E-trac a favor and purchase a RNB battery ! You will soon discover that this battery doesn't just last eight hours with a full charge..... NO No NO , but closer to 40 hours on a single charge !! And when it finally does run down, well it only takes two hours to complete a full charge back for another full 30 to 40 hours of runtime !!!! It's the single best investment you can make, bar none !!!

Could not agree more.....the best accessory that I have purchased for my etrac ...should be named Eveready...keeps going and going and.....

i would say yes, the only reason is for the off chance that you get a leaker.

I'm sure the rnb battery is great but why would someone want to spend over $129 for a battery when they already have one that works and can use AAs as a backup? Maybe when my battery goes bad I would consider getting one but $129 is a lot of money for me to spend on something I don't really need.

Robert, you have spent over a grand for your E-Trac .......why would you not want the best power supply possible, even at the additional cost ? Best money I have put into this hobby so far with the RNB being the greatest improvements to the unit !!! Besides, your missed hunt time, keep track of how many AA's you go through over the years to come. :sadwalk:

I bought two Duracell Chargers at Lowe's Home Center ( same price as Walmart's ) a few years ago.
Each charger came with four AA batteries. If I remember correctly it cost a total of $36.00 for both.
They work great in my machine - I just alternate back and forth with the factory rechargeable Minelab battery pack.

there are lots of great threads on battery power for the e trac if you search back. I got me a set of envelope rechargables, in fact I got a lot more than just 8 because my fam uses batt power in lots of gear, anyway, I have one set on the charger and one in the E trac and seem to never waste much time or mess with battery worries anymore.
they will hold 90 %+ charge for over a year on the shelf and I go three long hunts without a charge, not sure of the exact hours as I don't have to think about them that much.

you can read about them on previous posts.

good luck

My question to you is why would I want to spend $129 on a battery when I am perfectly happy with the battery that came with my etrac? I have missed no hunt time and maybe use 1 set of AAs a year.

Robert asked the question "why would I want to spend $129 on a battery when I'm perfectly happy to battery that came with my etrac" Answer : Because the RNB battery is a higher quality battery requiring far less maintenance with no power memory loss of any type and retains its charge even in storage. Basically it is a much improved product ! Ask yourself, why do people upgrade $$$ to various and different brand coils along with specialty market digging tools ( Predator tools) ? It's because they make the experience and hobby much easier and more enjoyable ! :clapping:

I didn't need a new battery, but I bought a RNB battery, it's awsome, charges in 2 hours and last for a week of hunting. I like the extra time it gives in use and not charging. Money well spent, I think.

I totally agree with roadapple, the RNB battery is the best investment I have made for my E-trac. This battery holds a FULL charge so long it is just "Scary". I've had mine almost a year and I don't think its been charged a half dozen times and I hunt ever weekend and during the week.

I'd like to have the RNB system but for now I think my money is better spent on a coil. Does the battery system make the detector work better or just longer.

Oh No...here we go again lol

Oooooh Yesssss ! Well Robert, if you take tin foil and wrap it arround each arm .... then remove your shoes, but not your socks ... then scuff your socks very fast on the ground .... it will generate enough electricity to power the Eeeeee- Trac .LoL:detecting: Hey,Have a Great Holiday !!

the eneloops are great also along with the rnb. eneloops alot cheaper to buy.
