It's getting so we all need to be very careful in our Buy/Trade deals.
Know who your dealing with. Expect the item your getting a lot of times to not be what you thought it would be condition wise.
It's in the eye of the beholder.
Get info, phone numbers, and references..Always !!
Check out the references. Just because they have been here for a long time does not mean their perfect transaction people.
Economy plays a big factor in who stays honest, and who doesn't I have noticed.

Granted most long time members are A-1..that's a given. But a long time honest member does not mind you checking them out.
You also should not mind being checked out. It isn't an offensive thing to be sure about a transaction. If the other party makes that an issue bail out.. !!
One bad deal can hurt you in the pocket.

One other thing..just because you get a phone number...that's mute now Cell phones can be bought for $14,95 with 300 minutes. ( Throw away)..Get a Home phone number, and address you can verify.

Every deal is a calculated risk..you can limit the risk by knowing who the other person is ( Both ways Buyer/Seller)

When it comes to buying a detector, have the seller send it to the manufacturer's repair depot instead of you so they can check it out. If it's okay then they can ship it to the buyer, if it's not then the seller pays to have fixed and then shipped to the buyer.

Just a thought.

I would love that myself and so would others..but not many will put any money in a detector thats being sold. Or, the price will reflect the check up.
You just need to see lots of pics and know who your dealing with in my opinion. If you want it sent in first ( A GREAT IDEA) then you will one way or another pick up the tab. Also, the repair facility will not pick up the shipping tab.. so thats extra money being spent...Seller to repair, repair to you (If they will even do that).....I have often thought of being a middleman ..but can't figure how to get around that high shipping cost out of my pocket, or even mailing payments to people after their detectors were sent here ..I figured it out once and to be safe that would be $80.00 dollars from the detector seller, and $10 dollars, from the payer to send payment forward after the detector was reshipped. Gas costs, labels, time evaluating detector, and insurance for covering the products..plus what happens when a seller does not send the detector, and it's your word against theirs that you got it or didn't..not to mention the money side..Not worth the risks, or the fee's you would make..Only sure way would be have all detectors shipped here, look it over, collect the money with shipping and handling fee's included in final price to the final person who bought the equipment..then deduct the fee's and send balance to the seller. If detector returned to seller a flat fee plus ship it COD to cover it....
So I'm pretty sure repair facilities would't be interested either in being middleman to any transactions.Just not practical.....
