Junior G-Man badge

I know that this is probably not what most of you would consider a true "RELIC" but I thought you guys might be able to offer some advice on how to clean it.
Hit an old log school (pre-1900) that was converted to what is now an abandoned house today. I have worked this site twice and am digging pretty much everything to clear out the trash in order to get to the good stuff that has to be there.
Much to my surprise I pulled this badge from about 4" in a pretty clean area about 100 yards from the school house.
I have searched the web for info and have found pictures of a different Junior G-Man badge but none like this. Does anyone know anything about this particular style of badge?

Also, any ideas on how to clean it without destroying it?

That is a cool find. Are you going to clean it or leave as is? HH Dennis in Idaho
