I dug this the other day and never looked at it close. This morning I was cleaning out my digging pouch and sorting through trash when I ran across this again. Rubbing the dirt off it showed it has some writing on it. Scrubbed it up and now I'm an official Roving Operative Jr. G-Man !
This is a cereal premium from Post Tosties cereal in 1936. Mail in a couple box tops and you got your Melvin Purvis Junior G-Man badge. I almost threw this in the trash, so check your finds closely, you too could be Junior G-Man someday...........
Hombre, do you know if the badge has any value to collectors? It is missing the pin on the back but otherwise is in good shape. I'd part with it if anyone is interested in it. Might be interested in trading it for a 5.75" coil for my Vaquero also. I don't collect this stuff and would rather see someone
who appreciates it have it for their collection.
I just read where Melvin Purvis committed suicide in 1956. It said he had tracer rounds in his gun......that seems odd. He probably had some dirt on ol' J. Edgar Hoover and was whacked to keep him quiet......lol.
