:jump: My new toy.....

[size=large]Several months ago after doing a lot of reading and research I decided I wanted to get the Whites Eagle II metal detector. The Eagle was Whites first computerized detector, I believe it came out in 1987 in the box box model. In 1989, they made the Eagle II, a greatly improved version enhanced with a "special microchip" that could also be installed in the older Eagle at Whites for $100.00.

Anyway, I've been watching eBay and sale forums looking for one in good shape. I was outbid on a couple nice ones on eBay so decided to put a post on the various forum's buy and sell section advertising for an Eagle II. It was only a couple days later that Joe in MD, (who used to post on this forum occasionally) contacted me that his friend had a like new Eagle II for sale. After telling me the price and seeing the condition it was in I was more than happy to get it at the price quoted. I received it this morning; you can see by the photograph that it's in very nice shape. Joe did a fine job of packaging. I just now put it together and can't wait to take it out tomorrow and find some relics with it. As you can see by the next to the last picture there's a little reading involved. I haven't seen so much paperwork since the Obama Health Care came out. Thanks for looking, and thank you, Joe, for putting me on to this fine detector.

How many detectors do you own now ? I need some more hooks for my detector rack to hang all mine, I don't even want to know how many are out there, well just as long as Rita don't know. Got a brand new in the box Bounty Hunter RB-10 on the way......that will make 4 old Bountys out there...............relics are not all we collect...........and we won't even try to count fishing rods..................picked up nine from Wally World yesterday, they took every one off the shelf, marked them way down and stuck them into a barrel to put all this years new ones on the shelf. Exact same rods as the new ones..........my grandkids will be receiving new rods, can't wait to see their smiles

I bought mine brand new in '89 and loved the unit. It hadn't been used much in the past 4 or 5 years so I recently sold it and put the money toward a new Minelab Excal II. I hunt the beaches more than anything else any more and even though the Excal seems to have a few "Fragility" issues, I took the plunge. Can't wait for beach season to get here. You'll really like this unit and it's a real coin-shooter too.

Minelab SE Pro
Minelab Sovreign XS
Minelab Excaliber 1000
Bounty Hunter Big Bud

I'd like to have one more...........:biggrin:

Vern, That is a detector I really really want back in my arsonel. I used to have one and I was deadly with it. FORGET the ID numbers on deep coins. If it is a sweet signal DIG. I was detecting with a friend in Salt Lake City and kept telling him of my good targets and he would go over them and not get a beep out of his Garrett. Well one of those good signals turned out to be a 1914 D penny. I sold it for 176.00. It was in beautiful shape. I also found my 1893CC 10.00 gold piece with it. I wish I never sold it. I was digging pennies 9 - 11 inches deep. Wear headphones and if you get a sweet signal both ways and the numbers are all over the place it will be a coin. Congrats on a great machine

A truly excellent detector , and will hunt with the best of todays. I would love to have another one.. Good Job snagging that one .
