Had a mooch round in a field near my house last night and this little fellow popped out at last lights, dropped it in my pocket with the other finds and had a look at home, after a light clean I was very pleased to find my very first silver Roman coin, struck between 161 and 169 AD a mere 1800+ years ago

that is thecoolest coin

Wow! Great shape too!

Amazing find! Thanks for sharing - Jim

Fantastic Find. :clapping:  You guys over on the other ide of the pond kill me with those oldies for sure.
One day I plan on taking a long extended stay over there for a hunt.

On a side note what the heck is a "mooch round near your house" Is that a stroll?

:surprised: Mooching is what all metal detectorists do,we're looking for something for free!

Very nice find !!

We have mooches up here in northern Minnesota too. They are the young people who don't want to work and think the world owes them a living. It's called welfare ..

Nice find for sure!

I collect silver roman denarius , that is a nice Lucius to find detecting!

Justin

Thanks Justin,I'm quite pleased with it,in the next field I found a century old brass cowbell complete with halter chain which I'll probably electrolise, that was two days ago, yesterday I was back on the Denarius field and deliberately looked for small deep objects, quite a mixed bag---two pocket watch winders, some small buttons, one from the Napoleon 1st army, another only 10mm wide, some unrecognisable brass coins surely 16/17th century and other odds and ends, one of the more interesting pieces was a Pilgrims Ampulla, difficult to date exactly 1200 to 1500AD,an Ampulla contained holy water which was sprinkled on the field to hopefully improve the harvest, some say the Ampulla was deliberately buried in the same field, but I've never found one before,I've got some photo's if anybody's interested.

Just a mere 1800 years ago..... like, that's along time ago. for example, the earth is millions of years old for crying out loud.

But, I must say.... that Sir, is one hell of a find for only being 1800 years old.:bouncy:
Congratulations!
