Some great news. I have a New Old hunting partner! He and I have hunted together since the mid-80's and always had a great time taking road trips all over looking for old coins, tokens and whatever else we came across. He's been without a detector for a few years but is picking up and BRAND SPANKING NEW V3i today! I can't wait. :bouncy: I think I am more excited that he is. It isn't nearly as much fun hunting alone. He's a little nervous about the V3i and all the settings, but I ASSURED HIM you guys would help out. I have faith in you guys. I don't know much at all about the V3i or any of the recent White's detectors, so I will be doing some learning as well.

I've been using an Explorer XS since 2000 and picked up an E-trac early last year. So we will be able to do some target comparisons to assist with his settings and such to help him become confortable with the sound of old and deep coins.

This is a great day.

We are looking forward to getting him started Rich. The program most of us are using with good results is Magics program with some personal adjustments, especially in the VDI tones. Since many of us accept all VDI's but like to hear the iron as a low "tick" sound, the audio set a 5 Hz in that range while others don't want to hear the iron and we set the audio at 0 HZ.

Here is a good thread: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,1322775,1326131#msg-1326131

Thanks Larry,

I reading over the stickied V3i literature to get an idea of how this thing works so I can offer help as needed.

Of course, it just started snowing here is SLC. This will be an interesting day.

Thanks to Magic for his program. I will pass it on.
