Hello everyone,
I decided to trade in my current detector and go with an MXT Pro instead. I am very excited and have been reading all day. It will be a couple of weeks before I see the machine in my hand but that's all part of the fun. Anyway I will keep you all posted on my progress with my new machine.

You made a great choice. Like any detector, the more you use it the better you'll understand it. When I first got my MXT pro sometimes I didn't understand the language it spoke to me but eventually you become fluent in its own tongue. The book by Jeff Foster entitled "The MXT Edge" will explain a lot of stuff you need to know, but experience and asking the folks here questions will fill in the rest.

So what detector did you upgrade from? And what coil(s) are you getting with your MXT pro? Every coil requires a certain approach on using it and they each have areas where they perform the best.

:thumbup:Oh, you won't regret getting the MXT at all. What a good choice. Can't wait to hear about your adventures out and about with it. Congratulations on your purchase and HH, Nancy

I currently am using a Garrett AT Pro. As far as coils for the MXT, I will go stock 12" spider for now but will get either a D2 or an S.E.F. and eventually a small coil for prospecting. I have had a few different machines over the years, including machines from White's, Garrett, and Minelab and I understand one machine can't do it all. So I figure I will get an MXT for my general hunting and then try to find a wet sand/water machine that I actually like. Then I should have most of my bases covered :detecting:

Learn the MXT and rewards will come also you will get those deeper targets like this indian head cent i dug in a farm field at over 12 inches. Useing the MXT with the 10 x 12 excellorater coil.

Stop reading that book! if everyone reads it there wont be any stuff left to find...
