Traded a BHID for a Cortes not sure what to expect in the Cortes.
Does not seem to have much info on this model.
I like the idea of VDI numbers as I go by these with other detectors.
Mentioned of this Cortes being similar in operation as MXT .
Would like some imput on it if anyone uses it.
Thank you in advance.
Ground frozen and no detecting till beginning of April in these parts.

BHID? Did you trade even?:)

Welcome. Enjoyed your posts on another forum. I was once considering one but couldn't afford. I do know that only the a/m mode has ground balance. I understand it has great depth in moderate soil -but mineralized soil has some toll on the depth. Most didn't like the fact that you had to switch modes for the 7 tone feature. The VDI numbers are handy, as well as the graph smear-and by that I mean the height of the bars as related to the object's conductivity strength. I almost got the Deleon because of larger screen . I wish Tesoro had added the g/b in the disc mode, as well as the tones. That would have been closer to the White's.

Hi Joel, and welcome! I dont have a Cortes, but have the DeLeon. They are similar, but the Cortes has more features than the DeLeon, cincluding ground balancing (fixed GB on the De). From what I have picked up, if you take the time to learn the Cortes you will have a great time with it. I get good depth round parks and playing fields with the DeLeon, so you should do ok, being able to manually ground balance the Cortes. The visual ID is very good on the DeLeon, and it is different (and a little more complex) on the Cortes, but it is worthwhile taking time to learn well what it can tell you...perseverence will be your friend. Good luck with it, Pete

I used a Cortes for over 3 years. Really a nice machine and has good depth. The SUM mode struggles a little on small targets that are deep, too much processing going on in SUM mode. The only reason I sold it was I wanted a machine that had tones without pressing an extra button.

Welcome aboard here Joel!
Always enjoy your posts on the other detectors. I have not had an ID Tesoro yet. Have a Compadre, Cibola, Tejon and Sand Shark. Looking forward to your observations with the Cortes. And I wish you and early spring thaw!
Cheers,

Get those temps mid May in these parts :sadwalk::laugh:

I just purchased a new Sand Shark and Tiger Shark. I use to have a Tiger years ago and have missed it ever since in freshwater. Now I have freshwater and saltwater covered. The lifetime warranty sealed the deal for me.

The Discriminate mode is an internally preset GB setting, just like each of the modes on your DeLe
