Got this ol' tesoro machine today. Came with an 8x9 coil. So I ordered a 6" concentric coil for it and as soon as it gets here and provided the weather holds out, will have to give it try out in a ghost town. Sure is a lite easy swinging little unit and it eats the NBPT for breakfast :) Can't wait to get out and give it a try.

Nice Eldorado Gregg....

I know you will do good with it, I had one and it is a very sensitive machine, great on gold too.

Nice clean unit! I love my Eldorado, the language it speaks is so much better than my Silver Umax. It just pulls the good stuff right out of the iron. I like my 5.75 coil, but have done just as good in the iron with the 9x8 coil. The 9x8 does pretty well on the nail board test, but is not as forgiving as the 5.75. I have used the no motion all metal against rock walls and the corners of foundations where I couldn't swing. I found a nice 1860 curry comb using that trick! I look forward to seeing how you do with it.

like the Inca, Pantera, the Golden Sabre series, Bandido and Bandido II, Silver Sabre and Silver Sabre II, and higher-frequency Lost ST, Vaquero and Tejón, can all provide performance in dense iron littered sites that is almost indescribable, there is something about my personal favorite Tesoro models that has made them such favorites. That is a continued ability to be 'simple' to operate with 'functional' settings that eliminate complexity and tweaking, yet continue to produce the level of performance that is really hard for the competitors to try and match in nasty trash.

Dang nice machine, i need one of those micro max machines myself hard to find anymore
And while my very loyal Bandido II w/6" Concentric coil mounted is always in my vehicle should I have to use space and trim to only one travel detector, it is the very light weight and handy microMAX favorites that I think everyone ought to experience and, certainly, own at least one of.

Those are the "turn-on-and-go" Silver Sabre µMAX and manually GB'ed Bandido II µMAX models with their ED-120 Discrimination, or the micro-housed Eldorado that provides the added benefit of the ED-180 or all metal accept Zero Disc. adjustment. All three of these models are getting more and more difficult to find in good working order and very clean condition. Why, even you could have owned that showroom-condition Eldorado OregonGregg now possesses, and we just have to be ready to snap up a choice condition unit at any time.

From one fellow who listed a Silver Sabre µMAX on Craigslist, I snapped it up as well as a Bandido II µMAX ... at very reasonable prices considering they are also in the same minty condition as Gregg's Eldorado. Both sport their own clean 6" Concentric search coils, and the only problem is they look so nice I hesitate to put them to use in some dirty and trash-filled old ghost towns I enjoy hunting. I guess that's why I grab my older Bandido II first, even though it is in very close to perfect condition as well.

I frequently get e-mails from people asking if I have an extra SS µMAX or B-II µMAX or Eldorado for sale, or want me to let them know when I find a clean specimen. These highly-desired and excellent micro-sized performers are definitely in demand, even today.

Yesiree, you are now an official member of the Tesoro Club, and your 'official badge' is that you will be wearing (holding and using} one of those old-fashioned, ordinary, manually adjusted, non-TID display, non-Tone ID metal finding devices that some of those high-end, fancy, over-priced detector owners thinks is similar to a Jack-in-the-Box Prize.

Well, let them think so. Any avid detectorist knows and understands that there is no such thing as a 'perfect' metal detector, and that owning and using two or three (at least) different detectors allows us to pick a make and model that is best at working certain site challenges. And those who have an open mind to at least check out the performance level of a good variety of detectors, to include these simpler, more 'basic looking' Tesoro's, will discover they can be very versatile, easy-to-use, and provide a level of performance in very dense iron trashed sites that can't be beat, and seldom can be matched.

You've heard talk of these handy critters, you've seen them compared with models costing 1½K to 2½K plus for the smaller accessory coils and brilliantly show their 'performance' capabilities, and now you finally have your first one in your arsenal. You have acquired the more versatile of the micro-housed models because the Eldorado provides the all-metal-accept capability with the ED-180 Discrimination, but still allows operator adjustment to just knock out the iron nails and splendidly provide hits on desired targets.

Congratulations on your decision, best of success in times to come as you master what a Tesoro detector offers, and make some exciting recoveries from places where even you have hunted hard with good detectors in the recent past. I'd be willing to bet that before long you might even add an additional good working Tesoro to your personal arsenal.

Then comes my Silver Sabre Micro-Max. Have had them for years when I first
got started in detecting. The Eldo. like previously mentioned is great on small
gold jewelry in my opinion. I've tried a few Tesoros but these are the ones that
will always be in the arsenal... I have Monte to Thank for this as when I first got
started in detecting 15 years ago I e-mailed Monte on advice on Tesoros and these
are machines he had suggested to me. GLAD I listened as like they are saying
these machines are becoming less and less available and still get a good price
for re-sale. I'm a man of many detectors but these are my Top Tesoro picks
from my own personal hunting experiences...

Congrats Gregg,
I can't believe it took you 2 years to land a Tesoro, and a beauty too. That single tone
machine has a language all its own that once learned, will lead you straight to the goodies.
Welcome to the family. Hope you get a few hunts in before it turns too cold.
Have fun,
Bob

I've had my Eldorado since 2002, when they first came out and replaced the Bandido II umax. It is still a favourite of mine, runs as well now as the day I bought it still does all the things I want it to do. Yours looks to be in wonderful condition....hope you have as much fun with it as I've had with mine.

Gregg - I'll start the bidding at $100. LOL Super clean unit. I just picked up Conquistador µMax a couple of weeks ago in the same condition. Have my Outlaw on the big auction site right now and would like to replace it with an Eldorado like yours. Good hunting!

that's too nice to take detecting got a comp 7" con that looks like that made a rack and hung it on the wall just so I can look at it.

nice score !!
