Received my Mojave Saturday from Backwoods. After reading all the great posts couldn't hold out any longer. What a sweet machine. Really love the precision 7 coil. Nice blend of coverage and separation. I think the Mojave is going to be awesome at my old sites that have square nails galore. I'm fortunate that in my soil I can run quietly in low ground switch at max sensitivity. Air test really surprised me. It gets an inch to an inch and a half better than my Silver Umax with the 8" coil. And it hits a .177 cal pellet at three inches. Tesoro really hit a home run with the Mojave.
HH, Mike

Yes it's quite a machine. Hope you have many great finds. Think it will be an eye opener for you.

I joined in and received mine Friday. What a quiet running unit it is! I think what makes this particular unit special for me is the 7" precision concentric coil. Reminds me of the ultra slim 8" white donut coil Tesoro used to have on their Royal Sabre...loved that coil! Now this 7" looks almost like the popular 7" Troy used to have on his Shadow X2...loved that one too. HH and good luck in your finds with the Mojave!

Will do Blee. Lol. With our families combined farms I have more land than time. Just need to get the right six numbers lol.

Welcome to the club!
Had mine out today for about 3 hours. Found a small silver bracelet and four wheaties, a funky earring & the usual trash and clad (in a really trashy area).
You can't go wrong with a Mojave.

comes with the new thin-profile 7" Concentric coil, and provides the very familiar slow-motion / quick-response behavior of most other Tesoro's, and that is quick and very functional. Examples:

> Quite often we read a post where the searcher commends the performance of their Tesoro for it's ability to quickly isolate (pinpoint) a target only with the motion-based silent-search Discriminate mode and not rely on the All Metal mode or an All Metal Pinpoint function.

> Although we have dwindled from the good old days where there were many, many metal detecting clubs across the USA and many of them hosted annual Competition Hunts, there are still several around these days. For over three decades now, Tesoro models have found great favor with many avid 'competitors' for their light-weight, their quick-response, and the ability to quickly locate / pinpoint a target with only the Discriminate mode so they can quickly make a recovery and continue on in the hunt.

> Perhaps one of the best examples of "How Well" the Mojave can Pinpoint targets in the 5"-6" depth range is to look at Tesoro's own very popular Compadre. It was initially available with only a thick-bodied 7" search coil, and in more recent years it could come hard-wired with a round brown 8" Concentric or the sleek thin-profile 6" Concentric. No, the Compadre isn't one of my favorite Tesoro models, but that is because I've encountered several that and been screwed-up by tinkerers who had to tweak with the internal trimmers while not knowing what they were doing. But a proper-working Compadre lacks the All Metal Pinpoint function, yet is quite capable of isolating most targets quite well.

If the Compadre has been able to satisfy such a great number of people, I can assure you the Mohave can go a step beyond as it is a better-performing model in several ways. Most of the time, if I am selecting a detector to use for a hunt where I anticipate good targets, coin-sized, to be located at 5" to 6" depths, then I would grab another model in my arsenal. You can do the same with all the detectors you have, and select a detector that DOES have an All Metal / Pinpoint mode function to help isolate deeper targets.

Very avid detectorists generally have an array for detectors to pick from, like you and I do, and in my case I have found the new Mojave to provide me with an excellent grab-and-go detector for quick work in many applications, yet capable of achieving ample depth and pinpointing capabilities for most applications. It's not the deepest detecting unit in my arsenal, but works fine for general detecting needs, especially for quick work in 'average' coin-depth situations. If I plan to hunt a place were anticipated coin depth is deep (5" and over) then that's not the tool I reach for. Instead I'll grab my Vaquero, Racer 2, FORS CoRe, FORS Relic or Impact, all of which can hunt deeper and also provide me with a Pinpoint function.

What he said. Sums it up.

I really like mine. I don't have any gold yet, but I will find some.

The one thing I have noticed so far, when you hit on a nickle, The tone is a little softer. It is a good solid tone, but softer.

It will talk to you once you learn it.. KEN

So ohiomike,
How do you like it so far?
