John "n" W VA asked what I was doing with my junk. He had posted that he had turned in $700 worth a while back and I didn't remember it was him. From

Yea, they buried the copper pipes in the sand in Fl. All the old demo-ed sites had pipes in them. After they demo-ed the house you couldn't see the underground pipes. The Ace did.
I would pull the pipe up out of the sand with my hands. What I couldn't get I would break it off. They were mainly old fields in the slum areas that had houses on them once. That was one of my Fl. MD'ing secrets. They don't do that in WV. It gets too cold here.
I always separate my metals and sell them.

It was in the post I did a day before you posted your post on junk.

I told him I didn't know what to do with the older things I find. I don't want to throw them away, but they aren't worth much. Yet they are old (1800's). I also told him I sold over $700 of metal a few years back. If he hadn't read it he wouldn't have known the dollar value.
n/t
That's why I originally posted my junk one. It brought my year end total up. More $$ to buy gold or silver.

Out here in Portland thieves are stealing the city statues for the metal in them. They steal the guard rails on highways and freeways, gut the metal from new houses under construction. Nothing is safe. Start snuffing a few of them and the thefts would drop off.

I always pick up areas I hunt as do most of you and another interesting and easy source of loot is the codes printed inside the plastic caps from Coke products. I bet I found 20-30 in 2007, worth 3 points a piece. 100 points gets you a free 12 pack. You can also get some other cool items. I got some shorts, some flip flops, a Best Buy gift card and two 12 packs in 2007. I also have several non internet using people saving codes for me too. I think Pepsi has a similar program which might have just started (or restarted.)

I found a real heavy copper bar first hunt this year which has been rattling around in the back of my truck. I think it was a lightning rod. Before you ask it's copper, not platinum! My apartment is too small to have a scrap bucket so I don't know if I should start collecting.
