Found this in an old lake. I'm assuming it's a commemorative coin but so far no luck finding out about it on the internet. Maybe someone on this forum has an idea as to the time frame it was produced or circulated? Not in very good shape but much of it is readable. VDI's like a large cent.

I would like to know something, too. I found one exactly like your's a few year's ago in an old fairgrounds in Ga. I have been told it is a commemorative piece, but date of issue is still unknown. Interesting find. HH jim tn

I found one of the same series last year (mine was James Buchanan) and was told they were commerative tokens that were given away at gas stations during the 1960s or 1970s. - Jim

I'll have to dig mine out of my box of "saves". It came out of the ground in pretty decent shape, but was really well worn. HH jim tn

Jim & Jim tn:

Did a search under "John Adams" here and found some interesting messages. Found out that the tokens given out by the gas stations were made of tin. My find is, I believe, copper. Found at least one other copper John Adams token with the search but it isn't the same as my find. Most everything I saw during the search was new looking. At least newer than mine.

Thanks Ziphius, that's exactly what I was looking for. The two for sale are in better shape than mine but at least I know what they are worth. Appreciate your help!
