Joey Coil

Thinking of purchasing a Joey Coil. Would appreciate any feedback on it or related coils for the Exp 2. Thanks in advance!:)

I have a Joey I use more than any other coil, it separates great and has good depth and easy to pinpoint and get into tight spots. If I get in a real trashy site i will use my 5 inch coil and a open area I like the X12 coil if i want to cover a lot of ground, but find the Joey the one I use the most as it is a great little coil. Most that have them are keeping them too as you see very few of these used for sale and when you do they are gone fast.

Hi Eiger,

I have a 11.5"x 8.5" Platypus coil which is the next step up from the Joey, I have found it to be great, large enough to cover a bit of extra ground per sweep but small enough to get into tight places and it's waterproof. It seems to pinpoint well and is OK in trashy areas. This coil stays on my EX II most of the time and generally all I change to is the 15" DD WOT for beach hunting. If you go to Andy Sabisch's web site you can read a pretty good report on the Platypus Coil.
All the best and happy hunting.....Boony

Thanks, Boony. There are a ton of pulltabs and who knows what else that has the detector in a constant null with the minelab 8" coil. For some reason, the crosshairs seem to "live" in the upper left corner (iron territory) also. I'm not sure if it is actually iron (area adjacent to freshwater beach), or some kind of mineralization or falsing? I will have to choose between the joey, platypus & excellerator 4.5 x 7.5. THank you very much!

It sounds like the joey might fit my situation if I can utilize the narrow part of the coil for the necessary target separation with deeper targets. Thank you.
