Joe Patrick On Going Back To The Sovereign

Amen! I have tried many different types as well, but, when I get excited about a hunting trip to my favorite beaches, I always grab my GT (which just happens to have Joe's In-Sight meter in it). I am very comfortable with it and that makes the hunting even more enjoyable and relaxing. I like to take my time and work tight grids, rather then running up and down the beach. I like to find a section that has been productive in the past and just concentrate on working it, even if it takes me a couple of trips to cover it all. Each hunter should figure out what they enjoy the most and just go with it. It's kinda like a fishing trip, it's more about the going than it is about the catching. Happy Hunting!

Although i have never owned a e-tr ac i have used a buddy's at least 6 different times and it is a good machine when set right it will find deep silver with ease , i still like my Sov GT better with the Joe Patrick meter built in iam getting very used to it now , like my DFX i almost gave up but i stuck with it and finally learned it i love that machine as my deep relic finder and coins , like all high end machines it takes time and willingness to learn any of them . Enjoyed the video DD, I bet Critter had the Big One when he watched...Got say, that guy carrying the spade has done more for this hobby in the 2 years then many have in a life-time..............

If you are using a shovel so you don't have to kneel down then thanks for giving this hobby a black eye and getting more places to be off limits to us. Perception is everything to the general public. Nobody should be using anything but a small digger kept in a harness. Using shovels, military shovels, or diggers with long handles looks bad to the public. If you don't feel like bending/kneeling down then find another hobby and not give the rest of us a black eye.

Got no problem with people using shovels on private land. Do wish they'd make it a point to say in videos that the reason why they are using such digging tools is because they are on private land, though. I often have Rangers walk up and see what I'm doing on public land in my area. Can't imagine how they'd freak out if they pulled up and saw me using a shovel. On more than one occasion they've got out of the car, walked up, and inspected for any obvious holes I've dug using a normal hand sized digger. If they pulled up and saw me using a shovel of any sort I'm sure it would be lights out.

Great video! But how much of a donation did the detectorists have to make, and to who? Some how they raised $14,000 for the museum, but private individuals actually owned the land. Were all finds also donated to the museum as well?

Hi Seeker each member pays a yearly fee of 25.00 anyone can join , the hunts cost each member depending on how many days we can hunt the owners fields around 80.00 to 125.00 3 day hunt the money goes to the Southampton Historical Meseum to restore the 1700,s barn ,in return we get to keep everything we find in the land we hunt that goes back to the mid 1600,s ,any Native American artifact,s we find have to be turned over to the Museum , the first year the team did raise 14,000 this year with more members we hope to top that . Many 1600,s Spanish cobs and silver reals have been found by members in the fields plus countless old coppers and artifacts . Jim HH
