Me like.

Great job.

I gotta try to make me one. Only problem I have is the darn coil cable is too short !! Boy do I wish they made the coil with a 7' cable wire so I could put it in a case and hip mount it for less worries when I am in the water. Guess I just have to cross my fingers FT ends up making one, or better yet, come out with a new lightweight waterproof unit with the same internals and main features as the GB. If that unit can run the same way as the GB does on the salt water beaches I hunt, I would buy 2 of them.

have the lower right control to be user adjustable and water tight, and I will be so freakin' in....:super:

That coil looks like your X5 coil.
It lives again.

Good looking rig there, Jim.

Now we'll want pictures of the gold!

this site has been pounded by the E snack and the T2LTD and F75 Ltd red heat and others just goes to show you there is always more work to do....

the coins found one 64 rosie and 1721 french marine Button Shawn & ME said... "what are these still doing here".....you never really know...

notice the sensor safe Permatex Blue RTV....easier to remove than the more permanent GOOP ...no connector housing on coil lead or headphone jack....real-state is at premium in DE box also straight jack is made into a 90 degree somewhat also both hayco connectors are tapped with nuts on the inside and second safety Blue RTV.....this IS for the young brave whipper snappers.....

us old salts ...know this stuff.... also my original proto designed Timberwolfs...for those fringe targets....last but not least i hooked up the cable braid shield to Pin 5....& picked and inch or three....Shawn was stoked when i showed him That.....probably parasitic capacitance....who cares, works for me....hopefully since the shake down run was good to GO ....we where just tired .....hopefully I'll get her wet this week end.....As i have already said ....i have found gold with bug SE...... first day out the gate with the Bug on the wet sand....just want to venture alittle farther....

Looks good! On that water proof case you use do you think there is enough room to use two waterproof clam connectors? Can't wait to see how you do in the water. How are you setting the controls before you close the box? Ground bal., full gain in all metal?

The geoforum, mod forums, and google search.... it is endless TI Texas instruments.....start with a sodder iron, helping hands, and magnifying lamp ....make a few electronic kits to perfect your sodder techniques....remember there is always some one.... faster ,stronger ,smarter .......but it is about you... not them...only way to grow is reach above your head....you can make a small lab pretty cheap if you shop wisely on flea bay.....another whole hobby there...the biggest step in a long journey is the first step !

JIm,

I think the first thing I may do is try to connect a new Infinium headphone connector to the land headphones I toasted. No harm there !
But do it the right way...with sodder and water proofing. You are correct...pull up the boot straps and have at it.

Thanks !

John
