Jim & Kenner Come Back!

Hi Jim & Kenner,
You guys are a riot! Where did you go?
Jim, I hunt big gold in Relic Mode with the Disc set at 2... my bad, I do not dig everything. I'm also absolutely certain I leave gold in the gold. Darn! You and I both know you are a good detectorist, but there are no "rules". It depends where you are hunting and what your goals are. Prospecting mode and digging it all is not the only answer. It is just one answer.
Kenner, I can read VDI numbers and correlate signal strength and depth with the MXT to the point where I consider it perhaps the best machine I can use while hunting gold nuggets in trashy tailing piles. The GP 3000 and Gold Bug 2 are my other gold getters, but I would not go without my MXT. Its combination of good large nugget depth, coil availability, and discrimination make it the finest "discriminating" nugget machine I have ever used... for those times when I do not want to dig it all. And I do have those times. It is not perfect, I'm still learning it after two years, but it is more subtle than it appears.
If you have a better way to tell nuggets from trash I'm all ears.
Jim, you come off as a "White's only" guy so maybe that is why Kenner regards you with such scorn. There are other answers and solutions to problems out there. Life is gray, not black and white. Or White's!
Kenner, you obviously could teach me a thing or two, but your "No Text" replies are totally uninformative and fly in the face of what the forum is about. How about some constructive advice about what you are using and what works? Email me if need be. I want to learn!
My thanks to both of you for the interplay. It is always fun to see smart people exchange views. I'm just a rube from Alaska. I feel I could learn more from this exchange of views, but it has degenerated into a display of egos or support of a brand, which helps me not at all.
Steve Herschbach

Sorry, I'm not missing Kenner. He pops up every once in a while to dump on somebody. He's not funny. He's not helpful. He raked me many months ago in another forum over a question I asked. He may well be experienced, but he's not very friendly at all. If you don't agree with his views, he never really answers your question, but distorts it to make it sound like you're contradicting yourself. For instance, Jim asked him what machine he used, and I don't think he ever said. Guess I'll get flamed for this comment too. Oh well.

Gary, I think Steve is bored and trying to stir the pot up again! Let's put a detector in his hand and send him out to play! <img src="/metal/html/nono.gif" border=0 width=22 height=19 alt=":nono">
