I found this in the yard of a very old house. Any ideas? The back bar is connected in both ends and doesn't hinge.
 
Yes it is maybe Victorian period . And it looks to me like a slide to a or for a scarf . It must have had a stone or something in the middle . IMHO , Woodstock
