Jewelry testing info

It was raining yesterday so I thought I would get out all my detectors and coils and see if I could come up with the best combination for hunting gold jewelry from the smaller stuff to the larger items. So for the large gold item I used my wedding band and for the rest I raided my wife

I'm finding out more and more about gold or silver chains and that detectors don't like them because the detector doesn't see the chain as ONE piece of jewelry but as separate links, or to say each link is a target in itself. This is why they are so hard to find, unless they have a solid pendent or other item still attached to them. Hence the drop on the hits for the smaller gold chains.

So, big brother (wv62) it looks like your plan is to clean out the soccer fields with the 3.5"X6.5" coil, right?
It does look like its the best for the smaller gold.

Jewelry and gold is where the money is, so my little 3.5 x 6.5 is mounted and ready.

Guys it is raining again so I went back to work on my spread sheet. I had a correction to the little coil size from 2-3/4 to 3-3/4" and a few changes.

I added a column for the 5x10 coil in with the 1266x.
I changed the last column in each detector to average the item score.
And the bottom right corner is now the detector score rating for gold. The max score could be 12.

Thanks for the useful comparison test. Now I have to find a 3-1/2" x 6-1/2" search coil for my F75. :)

Ok Ron I like the numbers, only give the settings and the type Air or soil and the depth of the object will make it a little easier the picture the numbers. I'd say the numbers are pretty good. And tha'ts a great Mock-up.

All test were air testing.

The 1266x and the 1270 running the disk at 0 and I adjusted the sensitivity up and down on each test to try and make it read.

The F75Ltd I was running in the JE processor and the disc set at 10 and the sensitivity was up and down to try and make it read. I didn't record any numbers.

Hope that helps,
