Jewelry mode

Did some air testing on some gold chains I have that my minelab will not
touch. Got a good repeatable signal on the F75. Has any one else tried this I am starting to like it. Test for your self pretty kewl.

use the jewelry mode a on some soccer fields and the like just before it became so dry here. I think, though, I am going to like the jewelry mode as well. HH jim tn

Taking mine to Myrtle beach for some testing this week. With the air test I think it should be a good dry sand machine to find small jewlry others miss. Sure I will be digging a lot of foil though. Wet sand I am not sure it will be good but will give it a try have a DFX and Soverign for the wet stuff.

Otherwise 'any gold chain' is a non comparable test really, unless you give us a clue as to the specifics of your test item.

Even then, chain flat, chain bunched etc., All such factors produce different results......MattR.UK.

p.s. Regarding your trip to Myrtle beach.....do please remember to keep some details of the F75's readings and your settings if you venture onto the wet sand.......Good luck.

Matt tested three different chains all in a ball in my hand. Most other detectors I have tried will not get them they were found with pendants on them. Even a PI machine I tried would only hit them if they were almost against the coil one not at all. Test your own gold chains I am keeping mine:biggrin:.

Hunted with the f75 for about two hours on the beach so far. Dry sand works great. Wet sand it is a bunch noisy. Can go all metal and turn the ground balance to 0 and get it to work in wet sand in JE mode with the sensitivity around 48. With it ground balanced at 0 i fear that I would lose some small gold jewlrey. It will get a Nickel in the wet stuff with the ground set at 0 so I would say that you should get most gold rings. Need some more testing will try it some more later. Feel the need to stick to my stand by machines until I can get my first piece of gold then will do some testing.

My thoughts on the 75 for the beach. I could only get it to run in the wet stuff buy setting the ground balance to 0. It would pick up a nickel or pull tab on the surface but not at any depth set up like this. It also was hard to tell a bottle cap set up like this. Now for the dry stuff it was great I had it set up in je mode with sensitivity at about 40 ground set at 90. You could cover ground quick with out worrying about missing any targets. I could tell bottle caps set up like this with no problem. Would also get the small foil so if their was small gold it should work fine. Not the best for the wet stuff but works great in the dry sand on salt beaches. I dug lots of coins and toy cars in the dry sand with the 75.

High numbers up in the 40"s. I never could figuare out why iron would do that . It was so bad my Excal stayed at a null most of the time. Anyway I had to go to all metal to get the F75 to hunt. Set the Sen at 70, threshold just where I could hear it,Pitch 0. At the salt waters edge I G/B at 0+3 clicks up remember each number has 5 clicks to a number. The higher I went up on the beach the blacker the sand got but the dryer the sand was. Half way up it would G/B at 6 and higher up to the dry real black sand it would G/B at 8. On the whole beach it would give me a little ground flutter or a real quite whurring sound but the good targets would come thru and you did not have any trouble figuaring out the iron pieces. I would get a real good ZipZip on good targets and a BaDa on small iron pieces and a BAAAAAA tone on the big bad iron pieces. The zip zips and good number ID's made hunting real easy. I was digging dimes at 8 10"s. On the deep dimes it would ID at 40 to 50 I guess due to the bad sand or the targets were on edge . Quarters hit right every time. I dug A 7 tooth Diamond cut grill , the kids said it was worth 250 to $350, 5 silver rings, 4 toe rings, 79 nickles, 112 dimes, and 87 quarters. this is a real bad beach to hunt and most of the stuff there has always been deep and high up in the black sand. I hunt this beach everytime I go see the kids and never have seen but 1 or 2 guys over there. It is so bad that most of them use PI detectors Exp's or Fisher's, It is so bad my Fisher's won't even G/B. Don't get me wrong it took me two days to figuar out how to hunt this beach with the F75. Once I got it down the targets just were so easy to get. I tried the Dis. mode but all that small iron just drove me crazy on all the high tone pop's and 40 and 50 ID's. The all metal worked great. I tested some other machines there after the F75 coil bit the dirt. It leaked and the F75 died on me. I was done with the test so it really did not up set me that much. I had to much other stuff to test. while I was there I ended up with three target lines. One about a 1/3 down from the dunes in the real bad black sand. Next one was down about half way to the water in the real damp black wet sand and the last one was about 10 ft up from the low tide line. I did not get a chance to hunt the shallow water due to the coil bitting the bullet. Next time you go you are just going to have to play around with it in the All metal mode and You will find the F75 will hunt just fine. I really enjoyed it once I got it figuared out and I dug a hell of a lot of stuff. I was really satisified the machine would hunt this bad black sand beach with all the iron mixed in. :D: :D: Jerry aka Tinfoil

Hi Jerry,

Always nice to hear how much testing you do. Makes it alot easier for those of us who don't have the time and can go out and hunt because of people like you.

Thanks!

It is just some of them don't like me or my Posts and that don't matter either. Sometimes the truth hurts. I have to buy my machines just like the rest of you do. I don't like bashing either but, I sure don't mind if if a guy is telling the truth. Not all machines will hunt in every area of the country. Not everyone has good ground. I am lucky my soil has a salt salinty and sulpher content down here. It is considered to have a medium mineralizatiion. The copper is crap when it comes out of the ground except for a few places. I can get some good depth out of a lot of machines. Anyway thanks for the comment. I love my F75 but it sure took some effort to get a good one that runs smooth as a baby's butt. I just wished the small coil would hurry up and get here. It is headed to some of my worst places to hunt dead in the iron trash. :D: :D: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil

I said just play around with it a little. When you get to G/B it the 5 clicks between numbers will change the G/B a lot so be on the look out for that. You will notice more of a change then when you are in the dirt. The + 3 clicks up from 0 was just to put it a little Pos. G/b to the small stuff. It also made the threshold increase a little when you lower it to the wet sand. That was the way I run in that bad stuff and I got some real good depth like dimes at 10"s. Man that iron just jumped out at you on the audio. Who knows maybe you will be running on a good beach and can use the Dis. mode. Play around with your sen. and threshold some like I had to do in all metal. It will be worth the effort. Hope you dig a lot of GOLD that is why I hunt the beaches. Could care less about coins unless I am in a area where cobs show up like I was, then you have to dig everything. :D: :D: Later and HH Jerry aka tinfoil

Thanks Jerry. I mentioned jotting down your settings merely as just a place to start and will be "playing around" with the settings. Where I'm going, the beaches aren't as bad as what you mentioned you were on. HH jim tn
