Jessie James

We have a letter. We found it with my grandmother stuff when she passed away. It has some really awesome facts about Jessie James. I have not researched this very much, so I don't know what any letters look like. I found it interesting the letter matched the exact dates on a headstone, and and some of the symbols are interesting too. it is post marked and dated. We do have some pics of frank and jessie james with two other brothers. We had or have the original, but my mom either lost it or something, as I am 5th or 6th cousin, I know through my aunt sally. This is documented. It mentions a photo album.

I have done a fair amount of research on Jessie.....and it's pretty interesting and as you may know just full of
All sorts of controversy !

Here's just a few bits:

It's appears that there was at least 3 Jessie James's that fought during the civil war for the south...

And some claim a lot of the stories about Jessie were kind of mixed up...and really hard to figure out!

A lot of folks claimed that Jessie was never buried in his grave site near the old family house...
In fact a lot of folks don't believe he was really killed and that it was just faked to get the law off his tail....

A man surfaced in Oklahoma in 1951 who claimed to be Jessie (would have been just over 100) and a well known associate of his who was over 100 years old himself
Confirmed his identity by looks and by things he was told by this man ... 'That only Jessie coiuld know'....
I have an aunt who lives in Oklahoma and she remembers this happening and told me that reporters from all over the world were covering this story.....

This is just a few bits of the very tip of the iceberg ....

Cheers,

Tye

In the mid 1960's I lived next door to Jesse Guyton, in northeast MS, and I worked with him and his brother James for 13 years. They claimed to be related to Jesse James through their mothers side of their family, and showed me an old worn Bible that had a faded, hand written genealogy of their mothers family in it. According to them, and what was written in the old Bible, their mother was the granddaughter of the sister of Jesse and Frank's mother who was a Dalton. The Guyton bothers said their mother went to either Texas or Oklahoma in the 1930's to visit relatives and met Jesse James. Whether what the Guyton brothers told me, and what was written in the old Bible. was accurate or not they believed it to be.

My dad told me a lot of stories about Jessie James, in fact he was named after him. e went to Texas in the 1950's to see his family and I heard a lot more. History can be fun, but who knows what is true.

It was either the History Channel or Discovery that televised a documentary on 'ol Jesse. They researched his where abouts and deciphered markings which could lead to where he buried many of his stashes. Using an old Garrett, they found a container of of gold and silver coins hidden down in a tree trunk as i remember.

Whats puzzling, at the end of that show, they detected something deep, deep enough to get an excavator at the site. Then the show abruptly ended with no explanation if they found somethig.
My guess, they found the 'holy grail' and ain't telling.

Jesse james relations are everywhere:rofl: I've read a lot of stories about jesse james. As one of my interest is the past, especially old west gunfighters and outlaws. The best story i ever read about jesse james that i would give more credit to than any other story i ever read is that a fellow outlaw gang member claims to have killed jesse james during his heyday of outlawness, one reason that this makes since to me is all the things that fall into place, like outlaws were crazy and fought among each other and killed each other all the time. The biggest reason it makes since to me is after the date the fellow outlaw claims to have killed jesse james, a lot of people started claiming to be jesse james, to which to this date none can be proven. "they wanted the rep". A story that will always intrigue people but never be solved.

My moms aunt has a letter found in an old bible , not by Jessie James , but about Jessie James. We live in northern Missouri and it seems the James gang use to "stop and stay at a distant relatives place. The woman of the house allowed it her husband wanted no part of it.He finally had enough and left her. His final words were "Go to hell old lady" or something similar . I have a copy of it..
