Hello All,

I am going to be in Jensen Beach,Florida in October.Hopefully,I will have a detector by then.Has anyone detected there before?Since I've never detected on a beach before,is it "fair game",or do I need to check with a Chamber of Commerce or something?Just wanna check before I go.Thanks in advance for any help, and HH.

Check with someone in the hobby. if you go into any public office with a request, the mindset seems to be that no one can just say 'sure". they have to "check with....whoever"
They'll "get back to you" yeah, maybe even before your trip is over, and half the time what would have been fine if you'd just gone and done it becomes something they think you now need to ask permission for every time you want to hunt.
Find someone who metal detects, talk with them. Also, fill in your holes, don't crowd people using the beach. the best hunters are seldom even seen by the general beach user.
People for whatever reason just love to give the detector operator a hard time, either with catty remarks, throwing pennies in front of them, or whatever.
I had one young kid with three girls in tow come charging up to me in the water. This is when that stupid carrot top commercial was on TV, where he hassled the old guy on the beach.
WELL!!! come get some punk!! I dropped the detector next to me, turned to square off with him, and by golly!! Guess he forgot to mow the lawn or something. He and his groupies retreated clear out of the park area. LOL
I'm rambling, but don't bother with any "officials" if you can avoid it. Don't set all of us up for unneccessary hassles. have a good trip. Do your thing, use common sense, and good luck.

Jensen beach and all the beaches near there are fair game. They are searched pretty hard.I did find two gold and three silver last week.
