JE......gettin the nickels & GOLD:detecting:

Sorry I have not been posting much (working nights & a baby makes for a very different lifestyle) :) But, on a positive it's allowing me to do more school treasure presentations during the day.
Well, I was able to get out to a "pounded" out park last week with the F75. The parks been hammered since the 70's, & most all the silver & "easy" finds are long gone. But the F75 did really well on the harder to find, lower conductive items. For me it was a Victorian era gold ring with initials inside, a gold rimmed "moose" pin. (Can anyone ID this? Some kinda elks lodge or fraternity or something?)
Proabaly early 1900's to 20's, the parks hey-day. My only 2 coins were these V-nickels. 1906 & 1907. These read kinda like the gold did, & all these finds were missed by past detectorists. My buddy also got a gold ring & a shield nickle....again missed by prior treasure hunters. We've gone back to a place written off as hunted out & the F75 is proving there's always more.........
Next project there:
we try the small coil where there was a bunch of iron. :twodetecting:
HH,
Bill
PS. Look at Emma, now 3 months & very alert watching the coil move :)
I'll have her digging before ya know it ;) (But you know people actually give me dirty looks when I have her in this sling like it's child abuse or something) She actually loves bouncing around in it.......

Independent Order of Foresters, a "mutual benefit society" or fraternal organization back then that evolved into a life insurance company that's still around today. L.B.C. stands for Liberty, Benevolence and Concord, a motto of the society Cool find!

Congrats on the great finds Bill, nice to see some gold finds with the F-75. I have been reading about the F-75 and the great results users are getting. I just picked mine up at my dealers today and have copied down some settings others have been using for coins and was wondering what settings you had used for the gold find. Thanks and HH.

good for you and your baby girl. I hope she grows up as a kid and loves to hunt with you.

But since they were quite "hot" I didn't want some newbee's to copy them & have problems like excess chatter. Since you are just starting, keep in mind the sensitivity setting I was running was ultra HOT. I had the JE process on which is hot on gold & nickels. That's probably all you need to know right there. One tone, (personal preference)....tones are the users choice, I was trying to keep it simple there. Disc on 20 to cancel small iron & Sensitivity quite high up to 80........(I needed to get as deep as possible as this park has been well hit).
I wouldn't try sensitivity that high until you are very comfortable though (especially on JE mode). The F75 is plenty deep on 50-60 even.......
HH,
Bill

Thanks for the help Bill. I'm like the Marine Corps and shall overcome and adapt.. After running with Minelabs I have the patience and determination to get the job done. I picked up some pointers awhile back on how to resolve chatter and other noise problems. Onward and forward. HH

the new six coil arrived two days ago and went immediately to a heavy junk park near by - the F-75 machine is an interesting piece of equipment and with a dozen times out I'm slowly learning the various niches. After an hour and lots of moisture to contend with, I now only have to find the full value minus three cents. - o well its a start. Today the picture was a little brighter, with the possibility of a snow storm i headed to another searched out junkie park, I'm amazed at the sensitivity of the machine, found a kids "wire ring" at five inches and a nickle deep in a bottomless pit. Had a chrome pull tab at ten inch's Id at a bouncy 75 to 85 reading. Gonna take a little time but without doubt I hope to be finding the deep silver and gold. Gas at 3.30 a gallon is keeping my favorite state park at a distant -however some day when it quits raining/snowing - I'm sure I will return to the place.
