January clad finds

foreverRich

New member
Just finished cleaning my clad coins for January. Amazing how fast they build up. No wonder my back aches. At 63 thats a lot of squatting down and getting up. At least I am getting my exercise ! Considering how hard the ground is in some areas this time of year I consider myself lucky. Good hunting to all.

hello forever rich, that sure is a nice collection of clad coinage you have there. i know it represents a lot of work on your part, so my hat is off to you. good job, and keep looking! hh,

Hay Hollis,

Them old bones are doing ok. I know it hurts, but dont give it up.

About six months ago when I restarted this hobby, I could not

bend, squat, or kneel for more than 10 seconds without falling

out. But I stuck with it, now I can hunt and bend and squat for

about three hours at a time if I pace myself. Now that's as good

as finding a gold coin, as far as I'm concerned. Now I'm actually

getting good at metal detecting. That surpasses my expectations.

All I really wanted to do was feal better. Now I hooked. I'll never

give up wanting do do this.

HH,

That sure is an impressive amount of shiny clad. How did you get them so clean ?
I'd be lucky to chisel out a black quarter here . When I first started back
detecting a couple of hours at a time was all I could handle, but toward the end
of the season I was able to go 8 hrs. with little problem. Detecting is the most
fun exercise I can think of .

That's a great haul!!! And it's a great way to get exercise. I do it as long as my arm can take it. Digging is more limited for me since I look in the woods more than playgrounds. I find less targets, but I swing forever. :detecting: Good luck to you in February. Keep us posted.

If stiff and sore from the ups and downs of clad recovery, I grab a sand scoop with longer handle and hit a sandpark or volleyball courts.
A $2 piece of 1/4" hardware cloth, a stick, and some tie wire makes a functional scoop.
