James N.D.

Hi James,

I haven't been out much lately. Hot and the ground is like cement!! We are suppose to get some rain today and tonight and maybe a little in the am and then clear up. We have a club hunt tomorrow and maybe some rain will help. I have been keeping in touch with this guy over in Eastern Washington and he is trying to really pinpoint that old pioneer picnic ground area for me. I think when Lee and I were last over that way we were in the general area, but the lack of finds made me believe that we might have not been in the exact spot. The wife and I are planning a trip over that way the end of Sept and I am going to meet this fellow for lunch and hopefully he will have some better location information for me. He works on the weed control board and has all the section and plat maps at his disposal, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.......:) Better get going and get my stuff ready for our hunt tomorrow. Take care and HH.

I had a Hunt on Saturday myself to attend. I hope that you find the exact location of that site of yours. It may also be that someone has hammered that site before you found it and that could explain the lack in Coins and Relics. But I hope that isn't the case here. Hope to hear how you did this weekend at your Hunt and look for a Post of my results from my Hunt and also the Real Finds I made during the weekend tomorrow. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Can't wait for your post James. Our club hunt was a bust!! I think our club is going down the tubes. We only had four people show up for the hunt. Not sure why more of the club members don't go to our club hunts other than the price of gas getting there and sometimes a ferry fare. I guess I can't blame some for not going if they feel the price of getting to our hunts is too expensive, but putting cost aside I thought it was just the excitement of getting out to hunt and being with friends that might out way the cost, but maybe I'm wrong. We do seem to hunt the same old hunted out places most of the time and with the size of our club you would think more people would get involved and think of or find some different places for our club to hunt. We all found plenty of clad coins, but that was about it. My buddy Lee and I went to another place after lunch break and I found six wheat pennies and Lee got about the same plus a 60 rosie and a 19? merc that was cut up by a lawnmower and a 1944 USMC dog tag. HH.

Has your Club ever done a Planted Hunt before and charged a certain amount for a fee so that Coins and Prizes could be bought? The Hunt I just returned from was a Seeded Hunt that cost $50.00 to get in. It would help your Club out a lot if you tried this and found a spot that was large enough to hold an event like this and that was super clean of trash. People seem to attend these due to going home with Silver Coins that were buried and you won't go home empty handed. My results from the Hunt will be posted very soon. Better Luck next time Eddie for your Club Hunt and Finds and HH.

He James. Our club is financially sound and we do have a good membership. Our club has a paid seated club hunt at our county fairgrounds every Oct for anyone who wants to come and we have a very good prize list including a treasure chest as the top prize filled with gold chains, silver items, silver coins and a gold coin. Our club also has a couple of hunts and potlucks at a couple of the members homes and also a Christmas party every year. I would just like to see a better turnout at our monthly hunts, but I don't know what it will take to get them to come out. We have a good turnout at our monthly meetings, but I'm starting to feel that some just come to socialize and that's about it. Guess I better stop complaining and like you said, we need some changes in our club to make it more enjoyable for all of us. HH.

But if the Coins are not there at your Hunt Sites, then maybe it is time to look for other sites and get Permission if needed to do some Club Hunts at. One who keeps plugging away at these well hunted sites will find at least a few good keepers eventually and one could be that Seated Coin you have been hoping to find. Good Luck with the Club and HH to you all.
