Jamaica Trip

Just returned from vacation in Jamaica and while doing a little detecting on the island I had a target reading showing a quarter and I kept loosing the target while scooping the sand and realized that the little flat rock that I was pushing a side was the target,,The rock is a little bit bigger then a quarter and showes the exact reading as a quarter,.My question is how do you get the hard rocky substance off the possible coin with out damageing the target..???? THANKS

I am thinking about a vacation to Jamaica sometime and was wondering if you had much luck or saw others detecting there. The beaches look super clean. It looks like a nice place. What side of the island where you on? Sorry can't help you on your original question... thanks!

We stayed at the RIU Hotel and resorts in Och Rios on the north east part of the island. It is about an hour and a half bus ride from the Montego Bay airport ( Sangster Airport ). We had a great time it was all inclusive and it had lots showes an entertainment at night ,,,we cant wait to go back,,the all inclusive is the way to go ,breakfast, lunch , dinner. buffets and a Japanese , Italian , and steakhouse restaurant.,, I have never eat and DRANK so much in one week,, it is definitely a Island Paradise,,we took the catamaran sail boat ride out to snorkel and then over to Dunn river falls and don't forget to eat all the jerk chicken you can,,it is so good,, like I said great trip,cant wait to go back and most likely will next summer..and yes we did climb the falls,, there wasn't anybody else metal detecting and I asked some of the hotel employees and they said that not to many people metal detect just every once in a while,,I found quite a few Jamaican coins and they sure give odd readings compared to the American coins that the detectors are calibrated to,,,,, it was great fun......

P.S. I talked to one of the Jamaicans that is on the beach every day selling items ( he goes by Buffalo Bill ) he wanted to take me on a tour to the mountains that were close by and check out some of the caves , he said that some of his Friends had found gold spoons and forks used by the plantation owners,,I am going to get with him when we make it back there,,sounds like it would be a fun hunt,,would have went with him this trip but we were getting ready to leave

My wife and I went Montego Bay 3 years ago and at the time I didn't have my MD as my wife would have killed me but those beaches must have allot of goodies. We also went to those falls and I'll bet those rocks have allot of gold as people go to the falls in large #s

We stayed at Beaches Boskabel in Ochos rios, it was all inclusive and I agree that is the best way to go. I gained 6 lbs. in 7 days way to many places to eat.
I didn't take my MD, but will next time. HH

Sounds like a great place! 6 pounds in 7 days sounds just like something I would do! Thanks for all the info on where to stay. It is hard to pick which resort but they are all probably pretty good. Glad you had a good trip!

We stayed at Couples and it was a great all inclusive place also.
