Jacksboro/Lafollette, TN area???

Talking with a nice local landowner that pretty much gives me open permission on any of his land here in Upstate, SC today, and he mentioned that he didn't know if I'd be interested, but he owns 22,000 acres in the Jacksboro/Lafollette, TN area? Said something about it being a coal mining area and such...I don't know ANYTHING about the area or it's history and didn't know what kind of activity, if any was there...I'm sure in 22,000 acres, there's something to find...but it would be a weekend+ trip to check it out. Thanks for any imput from those that know the area.

Scdigger, Big Creek in vicinity of Lafollette & Hwy 33 from Jacksboro back to Cumberland Gap, have had much luck on CW relics. HH

Yes, there was quite a bit of CW activity there. The "ridge" runs from there to Cumberland Gap. Many of the gaps through the ridge had action or camps. Many reports in diaries of having to march through there. I live closer to Loudon, but have been meaning to hit that area. Several of the guys in our club (Knoxville area) live and hunt there and do quite well.

Good luck
