i still cant believe it, FINALLY!! after digging about 6-7 pounds of clad alone, not even counting all the trash.

the only reason they were left is because they were in the middle of an area completely full of bent copper plated nails from a red tile roof tore off a 1928 mansion.

the signals from the copper plated nails sounded so good i just kept digging until i got all of them along with my first silver.:surprised::yikes::minelab:

its time for a beer!!!

mike.

Congrats Mike! You'll always remember your first! Lol. I was so happy for ya, when I read your post , that I went and had a beer also! Lol. Hope ya get to go back to that property and give it another couple sweeps! Happy Hunting! Emmett

Woo hoo. Congratulations. Now you will definitely have the fever.

Congratulations on your firsts! :clapping:

Sometimes being willing to dig the trash is the only way to score at some sites. That willingness, along with perseverance, good equipment, and other inventive or unconventional approaches will help you see your silver count climb. Keep up the good work!

I definitely second all of the above!!!! Happy Hunting All! Emmett

thanks to everyone for the good advice i've received here.

i went back today but had to wait till about 6PM for the public to clear out before i could start digging. i pounded that same courtyard again where the silver dimes came from. the courtyard is only about 40 by 60 feet. the only thing i could find left was my first ever wheat penny (1946). i think it was still there because a rusty nail was in the hole with it, so it only had good tone in one direction. when i bought the detector i figured i'd have a pile of wheats before i ever found any silver...... i'll take it though.

mike.

those are some nice silver dimes ! keep working that same area from time to time ,you will be amazed what is still in the ground !

Working harder and better actually works, but I swear sometimes it just seems like it was time for getting found. I have found great things that were not too deep in places hunted to death and I know I have been over 20 times and bang a super obvious hit with nothing to explain why it was still there waiting. I new detector, a new strategy or different weather or even time of day can make a difference, but not hunting will fail every time. Sure do the most likely most often and hit hard where you have found before. I don't like to think any place is ever hunted OUT. Hi yo more silver!!
Happy hunting!
