Ok, so I am having a hard time thinking of a good name for this thread, but this one just seems right due to one of the gulchs we hiked through. One of the photos actually has the name written on a marker if you look closely.

I went on a group hike a while back while visiting family up North, and took some pictures of the trail. It was a 8.5 mile loop that took us about 3 and a half hours, but oh how great it felt to be hiking in this area of the Sierra Nevada foothills. I would rate it as a moderate hike being that everyone in our group made it out alive. This part of the trail system is actually over 30 miles long, but that, of course, is a story for another day and hike.:)

This hike is located in an historical gold mining area, with quite a few remanents of the gold prospecting still within view, as well as marked on the map. These landmarks range from old mining shafts to old mining towns that are now long gone, although many of them were just marked on the map and a ways off trail. I was not able to get any images of the townsites, but did get a photo of an old tailings pile.

Once again, it was easier for me to put the photos on Youtube as a slide show, but this time I experimented by adding some music for the background. :) It may or may not have been saved into the video yet though, so we shall see. Hope everyone enjoys and HH.

PS: I used the Kodak for these photos because I still need to find a case for the Canon T3 that will fit in my dayhiking hydration pack.

That is some beautiful country to hike in. Do you ever come across any rattlesnakes, mountain lions or bears? What software did you use to create this slide show? Thanks for sharing this slide show, I found it to be both interesting and enjoyable. Kelley (Texas) :)

I have not come across any rattlesnakes, bears, or mountain lions, although they are there. There have been sightings of bears and mountain lions in this area before though. I do come across coyotes on occasion though.

I use Windows Movie Maker when making videos or slide shows. If you have Windows, you can click on Start and type in Windows Movie Maker into the search bar and it should pop up.
