Hi Peter and all on this thread, this is my first post and new to forums of any kind. Would like to add to peters request of information on the Goldsnoop v BH tracker iv. Before i begin Peter, i can say that i do own a goldsnoop md 1023 only and have not compared the two machines side by side. A while back i was going to buy my first ever md in being the bht4 but did not do so, if i can remember, the sales guy could not convince me as to why i should buy this particular one. Just letting you all know i am not putting bht4 down in anyway as i have heard and read all good testimonials on them, they are a good machine, although the good sales guy did give me a demo on the bht4 and i think the overall sensitivity seemed to be the same. Just in case your asking the model md 1023 is not from the one that is sold by JL Detectors in australia for $239 but the kmart one bought in melbourne for $89 and not modified at all, as i am aware there are some mods being talked about. Both these units are identical in appearance and electronic circuit design. "Speaking of Mods i would like to discuss with people who are interested in the like and willing to share information at another time".
One thing to remember these detectors do vary in quality control and the key is as stated on another forum is too get the good working one. On a technical point of view, the circuit board is well designed but due to low grade quality components used by the manufacturer makes this detector being critisized more as each unit varies in performance from one another. This should not deter anyone looking to buy one as these machines as they work very well and as for the money i paid there's nothing to loose. The one i have is one of the good working ones and if i compared it to JL's modded ones, i dont see a difference as i get the same air tests as stated by him in the magazine G.G.T.
I am quite happy and satisfied with this detector due to a few reasons as listed below.
The bhtiv has a slightly bigger control box design , not my liking, i found the gsnoop much smaller and better designed control box, the unit is lightweight, easy to use and not so many complex functional settings required, very low drain on good quality batteries and a thick durable plastic coil.
People will be asking by now how the detector performs in the real world?, well to start off i have only used it for about 15 hours all up in two months, the places where i have been is, one regular local park where i live in northern suburbs Melbourne, Castlemaine and Maryborough in country Victoria. No beach at all! but will be doing so soon. I have found so far at local park, my second target ever a md, 5 x DMK1896 and 1899 German Military bullet catridges, wow, call it beginners luck and so far 8 pennys, 2 threepence. 4 shillings, one being worth something, current coins in use, a very old damaged fob watch, a rare ladies powder box etc and the usual plenty of trash, This particular park is next to factories and near them only had to turn sensitivity down one notch/line, rest of park full sensitivity, no problems, great depth. As with Maryborough i have a friend who uses a SD2000, went out with him for 2hours for gold, can be used side by side (5-10 metre's away) he found nothing at this spot of bush apart from a nail and large bolt, i found 2 bullets and an old miners belt buckle and button with no interference at all from ground noise in very high mineralised ground. In Castlemaine i was only driving through, spent 1 hour in bush near a working mine, no good finds but 2 times on this particular spot it beeped falsely, but running the detector over again it automatically cancelled the interference out, impressed,To say i am not happy with the detector and my finds is a understatement. On a final note i like this detector for its quiteness and minimal interference and the bottom line is it really works as stated by others.

ps: wanting to discuss mods, larger coils etc.........
