I've upgraded!

I just bought a used Explorer 2 complete with a pro coil AND a Sunray X-1 probe. I was told this machine has faster signal processing than the XS and after using it a few times I believe it. I'm getting good signals that are closer to iron. This is going to be a fun machine in 2014! Honestly the main reason I bought it was because it had a solid working X-1 probe on it which isn't being made anymore. I'm sending my old one to Ralph at Sunray now so it will work right when I need a backup.

That's a good choice without a doubt. I own both the XS-II and the SE Pro as you probably already know.
I grab the "II" first always. IMHO it was the best of all five of the models. I will say that even though the XS is a super machine.
The "II" is the second gen processor as the opposed to the XS being first gen. Of course the SE P is a third gen.
I prefer the stock 10.5 stock coil the best by far though that came on my XS-II. Once my XS-II goes out or breaks its coil (if still in good shape) will be on the other detector in place of the pro coil. I also like my stock 8" coil a lot also. Same great smoothness in a slightly smaller size.

Ok, now lets pray for no more snow!!!!!!!!

Nice buy, Neal.

That pro coil works best on the EX2 in my opinion. It is a little too chattery on the SE for my liking and since the EX2 is a little smoother running machine...the pro coil fits it nicely.:beers:

The flipside to that is I feel the 1050 coil (stock EX2 coil) works best on the SE because it tames it down some.

There's a ton of people who would have given up on the SE years ago had it not been for a gazillion people switching out the slimline SE coil and replacing it with the stock EX2 coil.

Trust me...I would have been one of those throwing in the towel on the SE...actually I would have been one of those who wrapped the SE around the nearest tree. :bouncy:

Waugh Point. The same place I dug my last 3 plates a month ago. You've inspired me to make an avatar of all my plates. I might just do that tonight when I get back home. I'm at 10 now and hope maybe to get another one in March... :bouncy: :minelab:

Neil you really need to take me on one of those hunts.

Good job and I look forward to seeing them. Better yet also upload it to "manage my photos" so when your name is clicked on we can see it much bigger as well.

Neal, please keep me posted on how much or even IF you feel the EX2 is smoother in iron.
I have a buddy who still uses his XS and does well...but he doesn't do as well in the iron as a couple of my other friends who use the EX2.
