I've put up a Minelab E-Trac Forum

Those of you who are using Explorers don't forget this forum is here. The other forum is just so all of the advice for the new detector doesn't confuse Explorer users as it is a bit different.

Thanks... Guvner..

It'll be splitting up the group - those of us with both will primarily be using the new E-Trac I'm presuming and you'll get about half the traffic to each forum. I know they market the E-Trac as not an Explorer, but since it uses the same FBS technology, same battery pack, X-1 probe is compatible, all the Explorer coils are compatible then it's a heck of a lot more closely related to the Explorer than it is a new species of detector. I think a classroom is OK, but I don't see that people discussing the E-Trac on the Explorer forum is a bad thing especiaslly when things quiet down a little. Remember all of the posts on the SE when it first came out? Anyway, I vote to keep the group together as jumping to multiple forums is a hassle and people will tend to stick to one - e.g. I like the relics forum, but there's little traffic so I mainly stay on the Explorer forum even to post my relics.

Hello All-
I was wondering if anyone has posted any program(s) patterns, via the E-Trac Xchange, they are using for the E-Trac yet? If so, where are they posted?
HH Gary

that sounds excellant, two forums.

seems the explorer forum is getting filled lately w/e-trac posts.

Sounds OK, and will probably be beneficial for new E-Track owners, however I will still post on both forums as I know that a lot of EX users are very interested in following the progress of the E-Track and lets not forget that EX users have contributed with some very valuable import and joined in the many interesting debates that have taken place since the E-Track was launched three weeks ago, so lets not through out the baby with the bath water

I vote for a separate E-trac forum. The format this forum has utilized dictates that one should be made. Some of the logic being tossed about as reasons why the two detectors should not be separated could be applied for the Quattro or other Minelab products. Others are for personal reasons. Honestly, either stick to the format currently in place, or lump all Minelab products into one forum.

Now you can upload or download E-Trac patterns into posts but this is limited only to E-Trac Classroom forum.

Use the same button you use for Uploading Photo but we will change the wording later on it to represent what you are actually doing.

I'm really looking forward to an E-trac classroom forum. I've got my E-Trac and I could definitely use some help with it.

Here in the Explorer forum there are a lot of posts comparing the two machines. But I've never owned an Explorer so many of the posts, particularly those about why the new machine doesn't work the same way as the old machine, aren't very helpful. I'm not very happy with the skewing of the iron scale, but this is partly because I have a preference for things that tell the truth. As a practical matter, it looks like the ability to distinguish trash from treasure is probably impaired by squeezing a number of ferrous values into one line.

That's the kind of discussion I'd like to see stay in the Explorer forum and I don't mind keeping all the finds there as well. As far as I understand it, we are using the same "FBS" engine and coils, but different processors control how we see and manage the returning signals.

I want to really learn my machine. I want to be able to get the absolute best from it in a variety of situations. I want to know that if a hunt produces unsatisfactory results, I have only myself to blame, and never my detector. And that's what we need the classroom for. Let's learn this baby inside and out. and squeeze out everything she has to give. Who knows... if all the publicity holds true we will walk into the hunting arena like gods. No secret will be safe!
