I've got balls

Went out to Detweiller golf course after work to do some searching since more rain is in the forecast. Yes, many golf balls laying around near the creek. A clad quarter and cent were the only coins. Then I wandered to the riverbank and found two tags both from clubs that no longer exist. First is Peoria Slowpokes 1977 Rod Run with a picture of a classic hot rod. Next is a Mendota BMX Club State Qualifier 3rd place 1986. I only found one fishing weight but it was a quarter inch drive 5/16 inch socket with hook attached. Very expensive sinker and I wonder who lost their tools for this person to use them for fishing.

I have recovered many strange objects used for sinkers over the years but never a socket that I can remember  I think we are going to try to get out for a little bit ourselves today, it sounds like it could get a bit mushy out there starting later tonight.

Thanks for the chuckle! I needed that.

Glad to hear you were out detecting. Those odd things like that are fun to find.

We're getting the itch to get out also. Hopefully more will be out playing in the dirt today.

Just a bunch of clad and two wheat cents. 1914-1944.

Nice. 1914-D???? I like finding those musical instrument reeds like the one in the upper right corner. The reeds usually indicate an older site.

Thanks Daryl, No matter how hard I look at it, there's not a "D" on the 1914 cent. That's one of the larger reeds I've found. The inside broke a bit when I washed it.
