I've got an editing question for the Explorer XS...

I can't seem to discrimate a tiny little line across the bottom of the screen. The editing cursor just won't go down there all the way. The foil is bleeding through with a tone and I can't figure out what's wrong. I hardly ever use this function so it's probably something I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated.

I'ts the same on the my EX XS and the EX 2......BUT the EX SE doesn't have the "feature".

The only way I can get around the problem, is to edit a blank screen(all metal), where that line is not present , and X out what I don't want.

It's been a long time since I made a program but you can use the program screen, make it clear or you can edit a program you already have.
Go to edit, then choose the smallest block size or if you like, the medium or large size. The block will blink so you will know where it is on the screen. Use the side buttons and move it down to the bottom of the screen.
Then move it left or right, using the appropriate size buttons. Then you need to choose the "X" setting so you can blank out. All you have to do then is use right/left arrow buttons and move it so it will blank out the bottom of the screen.
Then once you get it the way you like you can save it under one of the program numbers, I am going from memory but suffer from CRS so hopefully this info is fairly accurate.
Of course the manual and Andy's book can be helpful if you have them to read.

NealNoIN says ""I can't seem to discrimate a tiny little line across the bottom of the screen. The editing cursor just won't go down there all the way".

I believe he's telling us that the curser in EDIT, is unable to access beyond the last bottom lines of pixels. I now find that this is the case even if I was to use the LEARN utility of the Explorer where you can completely blank(blacken) out screen and start whiting areas or even with a full open screen and start blackening out areas to exclude. The edit curser will stop above at the last line of pixels whether it's been ticked to include or crossed to exclude or even whether the curser is made large, medium or small. It stops above the last line.

I just tried editing one of the on board presets in SELECT COINS that has that section of bottom pixels removed from the 1/3 going right, along the bottom BUT try removing any of the rest in the blacked out area of one of those patterns and the edit curser will not travel below the last line of pixels. That's the way it's also on my EX XS and my EX2.

Does it travel all the way down on yours?
Can you include or exclude the very last bottom line with edit.

Hmmm, I didn't understand the original question and I think you both are right because I tried it and it won't go to the very bottom.
I haven't ever tried to wipe out the very bottom before, my programs amounted to wiping out pulltabs for the most part while retaining the nickel.
OK, now here is the work around if you don't mind the extra work.
You can go to select and clear the screen, then accept say nails and almost the entire screen will now to black.
Next go to edit and choose the box size of your choice and white back in the areas you don't want discriminated out.
I did do this and it works, let me know how it works for you.

David i guess i miss read what you said.... the SE doesnt have the EDIT feature??? sure it does... has both learn and edit. I dont remember rather it was the top or bottom of the screen on the SE but it didnt want to disc it either. But like Chris i managed to get-er-done. After its edited and you return to the smart screen ... you sure that line is still there? I think it did that to me and when i went to the smart screen it HAD disc it out.

Sorry , rather than call it a fault , I called it a "feature". The EX SE does not have the same fault or "feature". My SE does not have this fault("feature") so you can EDIT that and ALL of the area on a screen completely. I'd never notice this unless Neal had brought it to my attention. It's not a very great "feature" at all, is it? SO it's a FAULT..........AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!
Yes , Chris does manage to get it done , BUT it should have been a user control. It's not really a BIG deal , but obviously continued through the EX XS and EX X2 up until the SE...BUGGA....
