I've established the facts on my pocketwatch from local jeweler........

I asked the jeweler about cleaning my watch, and he said that it would not affect the value, but he remarked on how old and nice of a watch it was, he said he could find out how old it was, I told him I would like to have as much information on it he could find

I picked it up today, during the visit, he told me it was manufactured between 1883-1886, the case is solid 14kt, the movement size "0" lever set,look at the machine turned movement cover, this was in a sewing machine drawer at my parents house full of junk, it will now find a home in my safe............

On the case, face side: 4173575, on the face: Hampton, on the case movement side: Dueber Special 4173575, inside movement case: 4173575, on the movement: Mollystark Canton O. 1299562 U.S.A., on the rim: 735 75 fred
 
I think he was off on his date of the watch according to these sites. Take a look. It's a cool watch! I'll see if I can get a picture of Sr's pocket watch. It's been handed down through the generations in our family and I'm the next one to get it, it's an Elgin. I love them old pocket watches. I think yours date between 1899-1900.

Time was held in such scrutiny, a proper gentleman had to carry a pocket watch, on a chain, perhaps with the latest fashionable fob, nothing more than to give the time of day, look how far we have advanced, pagers, cell-phones ..............
