I've been cursed.

For the past two weeks I have found only zinc and copper pennies (no wheats) or been skunked no matter where I have hunted. Yesterday I had a job 55 miles away from home and I detected the small yard and once again only found pennies. As soon as I turned on my GT the threshold sounded like an ambulance siren I guess which means the battery is low. Grabbed my DFX and found only pennies. Charged the GT battery overnight and put my Eclipse 6x10 DD on my DFX for today's hot hunt. Hope to break the curse today. HH. Matt

Sounds like the last 5 hunts I had. There is always a dry spell then you will make great find after great find.

More pennies today (Thursday) but at least one was a 1916 Wheatie. Also a '90 Nickel. Anyway....nice day to be out. HH. Matt

Throw salt over your shoulder and raise your swinging hand and repeat after me , jack and Jill went up the hill both with a buck and a quarter, sorry wrong story! Haha, hopefully your luck is changing, HH Hank

I share your curse then b/c I have only ever, ever found but 3 wheat pennies in my hunts. Granted I have only been active for a year detecting but still, that's all the wheats I have to show for it. Oh yea, only ever two silver coins, both rosies. It must be dependent upon where you live though. I live in Texas and while there is history here in the right places, it's just not as dated as other areas, namely New England where coins have been dropped for 300 years or longer. Now, if the Comanche indians had used coins or any of the other native americans, then I would have plenty of old coins in the ground but that's not the case:thumbdown:

Sorry to hear your having a slump. Don't get too depressed we all have them. You will come back from it.

Worst part Thursday was that I raked the pile flat that I found the '16 Wheatie expecting more and possibly silver. At one point while combing thru the dirt I saw a very shiny partial coin looking up at me. I was psyched until I got it out of the dirt to find it was a shiny 1990 Nickel. I'm going back today to truly finish off that pile. Anyway, I look forward to just being out there swinging a coil. HH. Matt

Friday and Saturday were skunked hunts too. A couple clad coins each day. I know, I know....time to change location right? I can't. Im addicted to all the fresh fill brought in almost daily. I keep a metal rake in my car to tear into the piles. I spread them out and search them. This is how I found that ugly 14k gold plated ring a few weeks ago. I'm going back today (Sunday) for more abuse. Best of luck to all of you and HH. Matt

Today I found a silver ring in the pile to the right. That dirt came from someones yard and was dumped here by Mr. random landscaper dude. HH. Matt
