But sometimes they can make things easier.

In November of 2007 I got out on this site for about 20 minutes and found two three ringers
and a what-zit. Never did figger out what it is. Do you know? I found it where the red X is.

I thought this land belonged to a former client of mine. I found out that he had sold it and I
was trespassing. I could not get permission from the people who bought it to hunt there
again.

I just knew there was a ton of CW finds there.

This spring they tore down the house and a developer bought it. I the site became over grown
and I tried several times but never made another good find.

Now they have cleared the place out and started putting in utilities and drainage boxes for a
road.

I got in there today. My car in this photo is parked where the white oval is in the areal photo.

HH,

Good Hunting TD :clapping:. What does it say on the marquis shaped piece of iron ?
I can only make out Miller, I think . I Love to hunt the dozier tracks, especially after a rain .

I have not been able to decipher it yet.

There is enough writing that maybe I can later.

Right now I gives me a head ake trying to read it.

HH,

hi tabdog! what a nice haul you have there. yes, it's an old iron bottom. i found one the other day too a lot like yours. you have what looks to be a pre turn of the century naval buckle, being solid brass with a brass tongue and the naval anchor. wonderful find; you don't find those much, much less see them anymore. i have a smaller one with the anchor, but it's not as purty as yours is! see.... there are 3 ringers in arkie land! way to go man. you are sure enough depleting the ground in arkie land of her good stuff! who knows what a lot of the iron stuff is? i found out long ago people can more readily i.d. a mystery piece a lot quicker after it's been cleaned up and preserved. dunno why... maybe because it's closer to it's natural and intended state like that. your're finding almost the same stuff i do, but your stuff is more valuable! i can't compete with your chest of gold rings and silver, and all the other valuables you've found. wouldn't even try. i've never had a dry spell with coinage last this long! great job, td. it's knowing and talking to people like yourself that makes being on this forum worthwhile. to me, the finds come in second. thankyou, td, and hh,

Thanks for the info on the belt buckle. That must be one of my best finds ever.

There was a Yankee camp close to that site. That camp stayed there after the CW
and enforced Federal Law in central Arkansas. I have been looking all around the area.
This site is the only one that has produced anything. It's across the old military road
form the Yankee Camp. That's where the three ringers came from, I believe.

HH,

I cleaned some dirt off the rolled up lead thing and discovered that it's not rolled up.
It's hot poured in a mold. It has a hole through it. You can see the seem along it.
I've never seen one of these.

Do you know what it is ?????

Thanks for looking,

Hi Tabdog the first pic I see a (what used to be)pair of logging tongs ...the shinny thing looks like a
locking swivel that may have been attached to the horses from the tongs...so the rolling logs didnt break
the tongs. The last pic looks like an old fishing net or trot line weight? I said horse but looks like you found lots of tractor parts.
