It's too cold to hunt so it is time to ask questions

I am running a Tejon but this question is for anybody running a Tesoro beep and dig machine with a cleansweep coil. As it stands right now the Tejon doesn't seem to be the best choice for new coin drops like in a fair grounds. It will find them but with stock coil 9x8 and the 5.75 it is a little slow going.

Now I was wondering if anybody out there has tried the cleansweep coils on their beep and dig Tesoro? I am sure it will find the coins but does it help with the speed of finding this surface money?

Just thinking a new coil may be better than a new detector.

Thanks Ron in WV

My thought was to have something that I could hit some ball fields after an event and cleanup on a pouch full of clad.

Thanks guys,

I used one on the Golden Umax i had, talk about busting a tot lot man they cover ground i could get tthru a wood ship lot fast . and in an open soccer field it did well will get rings to about 3.5" deep to 4" deep but it can get hevy to swing for wimpy diggers like me .

I know about wimpy diggers, I am an old wimpy digger myself. I have both my Tejon and 1270 rigged for a sling, works pretty good.

Thanks kaolinwasher speed is what I was looking for.

I have an outlaw and I picked up the cleansweep for local parks. It is just the best at large areas and surface finds. I can account for it not being the deepest, I would guess about half the depth you are going to get, but it pinpoints great and does find coins or even smaller targets.

I am very happy with it for the areas I have been searching (less than 20 years old).

I almost forgot.. I found a silver ring on the first day out with it.

WV62,

Yes it will, with being able to cover larger areas faster. It just won't have the depth of your larger 9x8 coil.

The thing is to learn how to use your 18 inch cleansweep coil properly, know where the sweetspot of the coil is & how to pinpoint with it.

No surprise on the lack of depth, seeing too deep in the ground will slow you down.

Now that sweetspot is interesting, are we talking when pinpointing or in a typical swing when hunting. I was kind of thinking the whole 18" foot print would be hot and I was told by somebody that with this coil it would PP off the tip.

Also had somebody tell me he mounted his coil on backwards too put the weight of the coil on the inside.

Kind of picking up bits of info along, but it sounds like I would like to try one of these coils. Finding one seems to be a bit of a problem, seems they are pretty much out of stock at the dealers I have checked with.
There was a used one came up for sale but just didn't want to put more than the cost of new one for a used one.

All good stuff,

Thanks, Ron in WV

Hey Lawrence,

I was wondering which detector you ordered those coils for? For some reason the cleansweep coils for the Tejon are pretty hard to find, this would be the 4 pin HOT series coil. I have contacted the factory and they have me on a waiting list and that was several months ago. They didn't offer any reason so I am guessing they just need to setup for a run on these coils.

I ordered the five pin umax coils, it took a few weeks before they were availble to order but they are on there way.
