It's T-Shirt Weather Here In Memphis :detecting:

I'm getting lazy so here are some pictures of the last several hunts using a bunch of different detectors. The old house in the picture was built in 1922. I got permission to hunt it and did for a day, but was told today that his wife didn't want me in the back yard. Well all things must come to an end. A few of the silvers came from some rental property and a vacant house. I have a bunch silver coins for the year that are previously posted, 30 something wheat pennies, a gold ring, a silver ring and enough clad coins to fill a quart jar. It won't be long before the cold rainy weather will be back, so I'm making hay while I can.:) Enjoy.

Ah Man your killin' me! My ground is still froze and about 6'' of snow above it. Nice finds as it looks like the F-75 hits fairly deep on silver.

Excellent post Gerald! You're making me green with detecting envy LOL!

I'm stuck in the salt pit (AKA work) until Feb with no days off and all my hooky-time used up except one day  May get out to Libertyland tomorrow night for a while since the weather is decent! Keep the motivation alive and great hunting!

Just noticed a swastika behind the turquoise stone on the ring,.... interesting.

Great hunt! Bummer about that guys wife though..:sadwalk:...I guess you could have offered that poor old hen pecked guy to excavate a large hole in the backyard for her body?..I bet he would have thought about it! ..

I thought you said wimmen generally like you? Looking back, yes, wimmen sure can take a lot of fun out of living...especially if you are married! Unless you think going to Church, having a job, and doing yard work is 'fun'....Perhaps you should stop dressing like an old bum and maybe invest in a tuxedo, white gloves, and top hat down at the Goodwill? Then again, some people just cant stand to see somebody else having a good time no matter how they are dressed.....

Or, you may want to speed up your operation so you clean the whole place out in one shot!...Anyway, you are off to a great start this year!:clapping:

That must be a very old silver ring back when that symbol meant 'good luck'...

I believe it's a really old Navajo design ring. There are arrows on both sides of the ring. My wife was really taken by the ring, she thought it was very unusual and pretty.

Very nice group of finds. I see that ring getting "ringnapped" (similar to kidnapping) by your wife. So far five or six of the sterling rings that I have found have been confiscated by my wife. At least my wife hasn't fell in love with any of the gold ones that i have found.

Thanks everyone.:) The weather is going to turn nasty here for the next few days, so I'll be hunkered down for awhile. I might get time to do a group shot of my last year's finds. I haven't counted yet, but I think I have somewhere between 120 to 150 silver coins for the year.

Tab, you must have been just down the street from me. I've been hunting around Overton Park Ave and Cleveland street area. Some of the 1920's
homes over there are really producing. i'll try to download some stuff soon, but found a 1921 Buffalo,(Wish S), and a really cool
old old old silver bracelet. Currently back at the FL beach, but heading over to Hattisburg tmrw to hunt a friends family land and
an abandoned late 1800's high school, before heading back to Memphis. Will you try to clean the Buffalo you found in the pics?
Mine looks about the same way. Thought about Olive Oil. What will you do?

Yeah, I use olive oil on my buffalo nickels, war nickels, wheat pennies, tokens etc. I have a glass jar with just enough olive oil in it to keep the coins wet. I let them soak in the oil for months. The longer the better. Maybe we can do some detecting together. It sounds like you have plenty of time for detecting.:detecting:

Sounds good. Yes, I have a lot of free time right now. Next extended stretch of time off is from Feb 4th to the 12th, and i want to MD, most of these days off.
Let me know if you want to get together and what days would be good for you. My email is smzippy40@aol.com and we can discuss. Or send me
your email and ill get ahold of you.
Any particular type of olive oil that you use? Virgin, Ex-Virgin, Refined? Does it matter?

Thanks,

Scott.
