My first thought was it's a button but the back seems to indicates otherwise. It VIDs (#29) as a nickel but weighs about a gm more. It's not flat but concave and appears to be made of a non-ferrous metal such as pewter.

I suppose it could be but my thoughts, or hopes, were that it might be some form of Victory button that might have been worn after WW1 or WW2. Possibly in the form of a tie clasp. It very much reminds me of the type of logo/artwork one would have seen painted on the side of many of the large bombers that flew during WW2.
