that im gonna need a smaller coil for my new mxt 300... i can tell though the 300mm is a great coil but useless in my 100 year old yard.It did show few signals at 12 inches but to much junk for good fix...so my options im thinking are either a 6x10 or a 5.3.leaning towards the 5.3...any input greatly appreciated...do plan on doing some real trashy areas...couple of old cellar holes and a burnt building lot...thanks..CURT

I have an M6, same basic unit as the MXT, I think most people here will steer you towards the 6x10 and they really love them. I have a 5.3 that I really like in the trashy areas but I think I may buy a 6x10 next year to get a little more coverage with good separation. I believe the 5.3 goes a bit deeper and you can really pick through the trash but some of the areas I hunt I could use the coverage over the depth, it all depends on your needs. I haven't been at this long but you learn fast you need different coils for different situations.

you want good balance, ample coverage in common trashy sites, very good performance for picking good targets amongst the trash, and surprisingly good depth-of-detection. It's a lot to ask for but these 6

IMHO......5.3 coil all the way! HH, Nancy

I took monte's advice and he right it's a great little coil that doesn't sacrifice much depth

Cheers Ron

i have mxt 300 12" coil used 1 time , to heavy & can't use in trash lots, i got 4x6 when bought machine , & it's light & works great on playgrounds & chain link fences , & , you have to get use to pinpointing , works great , & if you have high mineral soil, works even better , my money's on 4x6, hh...

forgot to say, just got 6x10 dd , Evey one said it's a great coil , i hope, just can't have enough coils, hh.
