Total newbie here waiting for delivery of my first metal detector gear, a Garrett AT Pro, adventure kit and a Garrett Pro Pointer.
Due on monday!

I consider myself lucky to start this fascinating hobby with such nice all terrain wide detection spectrum gear.
We own an old farm (> 100 yrs old) property and homestead so my 'hunting' grounds are local and as far as I know never been picked over.
Looking forward to sharing soon :)

You picked a great machine for a beginner or seasoned veteran!! Look forward to seeing what you unearth!!! Good Luck!!!

Hey deep
Need someone to come up there and show ya how to use
that thing! Hahaha. JJ
Propert sounds sweet man! You should have ball man Lol

Good luck and have fun bro

Pete

You have until Monday to come up with a plan of attack. Map out where to hunt that is.

You're in for a lot of fun! There isn't a more user-friendly detector to learn on. Very cool that you live on a big, old property, too. I hope they had holes in their pockets!

Thanks, the anticipation is sweet :)
Some treasures you dig for, others land on your doorsteps
I'd love to hear what you're expecting in the mail too!

Deepthawt look into getting the 5x8" coil for your pro it's a awesome coil in iron and nails it's separates targets like a dream I have one on my At-Pro and AT-Gold 99% of the time and it also makes the detector so much lighter!

Hello, and welcome form Pepperell Ma. You've got a great detector there, got mine in Jan. been detecting off and on since 1990, started with a Whites Eagle Spectrum ( loved it, but it is heavy). Never found any gold with it (probably operator error). Found first gold ring on April 27, (this year) and second on Mothers day, neither large or exceptional, but made my days. I agree with 88junior, the 8X5 coil is the winning setup with the Pro, haven't taken mine off in two months. I think it is an easy machine to learn, and it is not a starter unit that you have to move up from, after a year. You will have lots of fun with the Pro. Good luck, and happy hunting. Artie

That 5" x 8" AT DD PROformance Search coil looks like it'd be really useful in tight places and around edges and being lighter is a plus too. I didn't even think of getting dual coils when I made the purchase.

that's great!, and i don't have to do without all the benefits of a nice kit while learning :p plus there are addons if i feel the need to up the game.

I noticed that lots of folks who list some some nice equipment in their signatures also include the AT Pro as being their current machine of choice and that influenced my purchase.

As luck would have it we have rain forecast for next week, I guess that'll affect the digging and detecting characteristics, but sunny days are coming too :)
so much to learn, and in no real hurry to do anything but enjoy the process.

I can totally confirm that the advice I've received about the ProPointer is 100% on-the-mark, It'd be hard to imagine hunting without one.
Following that trend I'm going to follow the advice about the Garrett 5X8 DD Proformance coil, it's ordered for delivery this week.
I'll gladly trade some depth for that enhanced target resolution. (also got a Lesche Sampson T handle)
Thanks for the tips!

Even though I know the antisipation of receiving a great detector is killing you and not wanting to be the bearer of Bad News it may be Tuesday before you get it since Monday is Memorial Day and no mail or deliverys will be made . Unless you have a Private delivery service Hope you dont Black Mark me for ruining your aquirement of a great detector but just had to make sure you came down off of the cloud of knowing you are about to receive the best detector you ever owned so tuesday when you get it the first Target I hope you find is Silver!
