It's got an eagle on it, stars around the outside edge and the date 1818 on it.

I had an hour of day light with nothing to do. I told my wife I going MDing. I can get to the site in 15 minutes and that leaves me 45 minutes to MD. When I got there my first hit was a 1870 I H. 15 minutes later and my MDing was over. A woman came out of the house next door and wanted to know what I was doing. Then I find out she was my girlfriend in third grade. She wouldn't shut up. Here's my 15 minute total. 1870 IH, 1942 cent, glass ? and other trash,

NOW TWO DAYS LATER(today) I go back to the site and they filled it all in. They filled in about 8 really great sites. I tried MDing on the edges where I could see black dirt and grass. Not even a wheat! The spoon says nickel silver on the back. On the left is the back of a pocket watch.

The large coin that is the size and weight of a silver dollar is an Illinois sesquicentennial token. It hit on dollar and I was positive that is what it was. It wasn't that clean when it came out of the ground. Hey, it had an eagle and a circle of stars around it. It is suppose to be a dollar!!!

Things like that make the hobby "fun"? This one has me stumped. :shrug:I thought it was a half dollar when it was dirty. Same size and hit on 50 cent. A copper clad crank club. There is one for sell on e-bay, but there was no information about the token. I can not find any information about the token or what it is about on the Internet. There are swastikas on the front and back. I also has a four leaf clover on it. So was this an Irish Nazi group?

The swastika was supposed to be symbol of good luck before the War and the Nazi's started using it. I have a of token from the 1800's that has a couple of them on it. I haven't had any luck finding info on it, either. Nice finds!

For the record, although I am a Caucasian, I am a Native American also. Born and raised in this country makes me one.

Does the Illinois coin say token on it? If not it could be a commemorative coin and worth a few bucks. A lot were minted over the years.

Yes, Bill, I am.

To quote awhitster's post immediately above your "Bingo", "...not the wagon jumpers we have today." That is disparaging and insulting to an entire race of people, my wife and her family included.

Relic[/quote]Sorry if I offended you but I don't think I wrote anything "disparaging and insulting to an entire race of people". I just don't think I am any different than anyone else born and raised here in the USA, nor do I think I or them should be treated any differently no matter what race they are. And if someone doesn't like my way of thinking, too bad. I'm not jumping on the "politically correct band wagon". If you really think my post is out of line, report it to the Mods and let them decide.

John,

It's a four leaf clover. A shamrock only has three leaves, the shamrock was used in Ireland to explain the Holy Trinity in the early days of Christianity.

God Bless <>< & Happy Hunting,

It has a 4 leaf clover, horse shoe and some good luck swastikas. I think it was trying to state was, if you had the copper clad you are lucky. If you didn't have the coper clad you would wish you did.

Yeah the swastika goes way back in history before Hitler's time. The American Indians used it before white man ever hit these shores and it originated on the other side of the world thousands of years ago, I just can't remember where and when without looking it up.

Bill

I'm part Cherokee so that makes me more than one. Actually the Indians weren't natives as they crossed over from Europe thousands of years ago on a land bridge that existed at that time up north. Everybody in this world is an immigrant of some kind and from somewhere else.

Bill

You are really smok'n recently with those soon to be torn down houses. I have been really enjoying your posts
