Second hunt AT-Pro. I purposely did not read many AT-Pro posts over the winter. Why? Because I didn't want to buy one until spring. Last night I read a bunch. One theme that keeps coming up. The more I swing it the more impressed I become. Let me add my thoughts. The more I swing it the more impressed I become! I realize it's only two hunts, but that's enough.
I went to a site I haven't been to in four years. I've only hunted it with my Ace 250 and not my GTI 2500. I grabbed my AT_Pro and because I had a free hand my 2500. For the first half hour or so I used both machines which was a good way to compare performance. The GTI was much better at picking out the junk as might be expected. GTI would not detect a few of the deeper nickels which is what I was thinking yesterday if you read that post. I got a new signal on the AT-Pro which was solid VDI of 84 at 8 inches. When I scanned it with my 2500 I said to myself, cool a silver dime. I dug it and it was........a silver dime at around 6 inches. First silver with AT-Pro! Later I found two iron rings that the GTI probably would have passed up but I didn't test them to see. Is that a lot of dimes, or what? Here's the loot:

I kept all the junk except for 2 aluminum cans. Can you spot the item I would not have dug if I was using my 2500?

Yeah, it's the chain. Now there is no doubt in my mind that if some idiot on MTV started wearing one of those around his neck that the next days millions of other idiots would be copying him. (Hmmmm. Maybe I'll just hold onto it.) I also never have to dig that many screw caps with my 2500. Lump of coal. Haven't dug one of those since my Ace 250 days. GTI allowed me to leave them in the ground.
I was only out for 2 1/2 hours and found 114 coins which is right up there with what I might expect with my 2500 at a clad rich site. I'm finding very few quarters so far this year using either machine. Probably because somebody cherry picked them at all my best sites. Probably me!
