it's better to be asked "how are you doing?" than "what are you doing?"

The teenagers don't ask anything. They just stare and shake their heads and keep walkin. I usually hear "What that old man doin, he must be nuts."

The gated park I hunt had a police officer parked watching traffic outside the closed gate.I park about a block away and walk to the park with my metal detector anyway it was too late the police officer saw me.As I walked past the cruiser the officer rolled his window down and asked how is the hunting?Boy was I relieved,we talked for about a half an hour and then I entered the park for my hunt.

WOW Ghost , Very thought provoking post ! Not just in metal detecting,
but in all aspects of life that is one phrase I do not hear used much . Seems
we are all much too busy to inquire about one another today ...A shame really !
I have one Dear Friend that asks me everyday How I am , and that means more
to me than all the treasures I could ever dig from the ground ! I like your post and
I am going to make a special point to let my friend know how just how much I
appreciate his caring soul ....Thanks Ghost :please:

Terri

I got to thinking about that, Gray Ghost, and I recall far more often then not that I do get asked how I'm doing then what I'm doing. When land hunting I find people are more prone to glance my way and just continue on. When beach hunting, though, I find people are more apt to stare, watch and even follow me. Hence, when I'm at the beach, I hunt early and late. Interesting topic! HH jim tn

With my long hair and the fact that I dress with old jeans with holes in them and get pretty dirty detecting. I probably am a sight to see  Most people ignore me, especially if they have kids!!! So it pays to look a like a bum, I guess.:look: But my wife says I clean up pretty well:devil:

Now I have seen a pic of Coinnut, well actually I havent ...hmmmm
post that pic here for us ....Please, Very Cool :super:

Terri

This was after I just got my hair cut:rofl: Now you know why no one bothers me. If they do, I think they are weird!!!

Thanks George , I missed seeing that pic from the other group
I would be one of those weird ones , I would have to say something .
Not many pics of us here , so here is mine , everybody approaches me,
hence the evil look

hey coinnut, i used to have long hair too - so no shame there my friend. but, i gotta admit... that is one nice guitar! i'm guessing a mid eighties bc rich.

i reckon i woke up one day and decided i was tired of messing with it! so, chop chop... thanks, and hh!

Great post with little noticeable effort.

Congrats my friend.

You are thought provoking all the way around.

Thanks for the words of wisdom,

Tabdog

I think I had the hair ever since I was born. They searched for three days before they knew where my eyes were. The guitar is nice, but not sure what it dates to. Bought it on E bay. Will have to look up the serial number one of these days. How's the hunting? Went out today (cellar hunting), but not much. Couple of buttons and a Campaign token and a real large hollow point bullet.

Mean, Lean, Detecting, Machine ( NO questions asked - go away). That's what the shirt should say. Add a large knife as a side arm, and no one will bother you. Oh and your digger is in the other pocket. HH
