My buddy who I call the House whisperer has gotten us into some very fine old home sites all summer. These are all occupied homes in our area. Not getting any older cellar holes lately but some of the finds are very note worthy. Here are a few pictures of what we've found lately. I'm not including pictures of any of the Mercs or Rosies or even the few Barber dimes.
1864 L Indian Head It's hard to see the "L" on it but it's there. Kind of a more rare Indian Head.
1806? Half Cent
1865 2 Cent
Also found either a dime or quarter Real that was worn so smooth that there was't any details at all except that someone stamped a "V" in it.
Also a Civil War token that I gave to the property owner that was the site of an old saw mill. It is a Gustavus Lindenmueller 1852 Trade token. It's great seeing something come out of the ground that you don't know what it is and have to research it to find out. If you google it you will see his face on the obverse. When we looked at it at first we thought it was a foreign coin. I didn't take a picture of it before I gave it to the land owner. Drat! but i've reached my quota of pictures that I can put in here anyway.
All I can say is that getting permissions is the best way of finding the good stuff and breaking away from pounding the parks.
